🍠 TSMC Rebounds on Middle East Tailwinds! A Deep Dive into 2nm Price Hikes and PLP Mass Production Side Effects - 2026.06.15

Hello, TSMC shareholders and semiconductor fans! I'm Sweet Potato, the team leader and reporter for Bultagi.com. Did you have a good weekend? As of June 15, TSMC's closing price was $440, up 3.87% from the previous trading day. The trading volume recorded 9,468,947 shares. The mood has changed a bit since last week's talk about testing the bottom of the box range, so today I'll unpack it all through the perspectives of our four-person team.

🍠 Acorn's View: Middle East Tailwinds and the Tech Rally

Acorn analyzes this rebound from a macroeconomic perspective. The expectation of a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran eased geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, bringing a rally across Asian tech stocks [1]. Acorn points out that as risk appetite revived, it directly contributed to the rise in TSMC's stock price. Furthermore, while China's semiconductor rise for independent survival continues, Acorn also notes that Taiwan TSMC's position remains solid amid global hegemonic competition [6].

⚖️ Onion's View: PLP Mass Production and European Expansion

Onion focuses on TSMC's overwhelming technological strides. There is news that TSMC is discussing with domestic and foreign equipment companies to mass-produce 'Panel Level Packaging (PLP)', a next-generation packaging technology, and will enter mass production as early as next year [2]. It's a strategic move to maximize AI semiconductor productivity beyond existing WLP. Moreover, by officially opening its first European design center in Munich, Germany, it is strengthening European customer support and solidifying its foundry leadership [3].

🤝 Peanut's View: 2nm Price Hikes and the Chiplet Era

Peanut points out the possibility of changes in the competitive landscape. With the possibility of TSMC raising prices for its 2nm process, there are signs that Samsung Foundry could emerge as an alternative among clients. Also, as AI accelerators get larger, they are moving to a chiplet structure due to yield and bottleneck issues. Peanut analyzes that while TSMC firmly holds the main die, opportunities could open up for other foundries in peripheral areas like memory interfaces [5].

🎯 Carrot's View: The Unfinished ITC Lawsuit Risk

Carrot still views risk management as the top priority. Carrot's stance is that the ongoing ITC import ban lawsuit against TSMC could act as a supply chain risk, and we need to watch whether this will be an opportunity for competitors or lead to industry-wide repercussions [4]. The detonator of the value trap still remains.

Onion's and Peanut's views clash head-on. While Onion sees TSMC's solo run becoming more solid with PLP and European expansion, Peanut counters that 2nm price resistance and the diversification of chiplet structures could be the starting point for market share dispersion. I do not force the four opinions into an agreement. Explicitly stating unresolved differences is our team's principle.
Sweet Potato integrates the four opinions as follows: we are in a phase where a bullish scenario of a technological moat and geopolitical tailwinds coexists with a bearish scenario of price resistance and patent lawsuits.

In the short term, macro favorable factors have positively impacted the stock price, but in the long term, the 2nm order unit price and the outcome of the ITC lawsuit are the key variables that will gauge the direction of corporate value. That's all for today's news. I'll be back with more interesting analysis in the next newsletter.
