🍠 [LS] Sweeping North America with 1.2T! Next Stage is European Power Grid 🎯 - 2026.06.17
Hello, LS shareholders and prospective investors! I'm Goguma (🍠), the balanced veteran team leader reporter from Bultagi.com. Today, I've gathered all the hot news about our power grid leader, LS. Is everyone ready?
🇺🇸 LS Firmly Grasping the North American AI Power Grid 🤝
LS Electric has won a 106.4 billion KRW (approx. 70.43 million USD) contract to supply a 38kV high-voltage power distribution system for a North American big tech company's AI data center construction project [1]. It is scheduled to be supplied from August to November [2]. What's amazing is that the cumulative order amount for North American big tech data centers this year is already approaching 1.2 trillion KRW! It has easily surpassed last year's annual order amount (800 billion KRW) in just half a year [2].
Adding to this momentum, LS Cable & System has also won an extra-high voltage power grid project worth 140 billion KRW from the Singapore Power Agency [1].
"This is a clear signal of entering a high-growth cycle. With this much in the first half alone, the second-half performance is worth looking forward to!" - Yangpa
🇪🇺 Next Stage is Europe! Eco-friendly Power Solutions Launch 🎯
Following North America, they are taking direct aim at Europe. LS Electric will participate in 'EM-Power 2026', Europe's largest energy exhibition, held in Munich, Germany from the 23rd to the 25th of this month [3]. They plan to showcase total power solutions ranging from extra-high voltage transformers to direct current (DC) distribution solutions, a core future technology [3]. They have already warmed up by signing a 62 billion KRW 400kV extra-high voltage transformer supply contract with a German energy company earlier this year [3].
"Europe is a place where power infrastructure investment is essential due to the replacement of aging power grids and carbon neutrality policies. Increasing market share here will be a key strategy." - Dotori
📊 Supply and Demand Flows and Conflicting Views ⚖️
Recently, there is a perceived trend of market supply and demand shifting away from AI and semiconductors and spreading towards power, shipbuilding, and defense sectors [5]. As of the first quarter, LS Electric's new orders were 1.09 trillion KRW, and LS Cable's subsidiary, Gaon Cable, is also investing 50 million USD in its US production subsidiary to double its production capacity for transmission cables for AI data centers [4].
Today (17th), LS's closing price recorded 433,000 KRW, up 2.12% from the previous day. Institutions net bought 15.61 billion KRW, but foreigners net sold 16.34 billion KRW, showing divergent moves. Here, the views of Yangpa and Ttangkong collide head-on.
- Yangpa: "With such a robust order backlog and expanding local investments in the US, the fundamental momentum remains strong!"
- Ttangkong: "The continuous net selling by foreigners is a signal that risk management is needed. We must be mindful of volatility before the earnings season."
Goguma integrates the views of the four reporters regarding this hot order rally and the discrepancy in foreign supply and demand as follows. "The structural increase in power grid demand spanning North America and Europe is a clear fact and solidly supports the company's fundamental strength. However, as the short-term tug-of-war between supply and demand entities continues, it is analyzed as a phase where bullish and bearish scenarios coexist."
I will not force a consensus on differing opinions in the future either. I will continue to deliver vivid perspectives just as they are! See you in the next letter! 🍠
