💼 LG Electronics: The Tug-of-War Between Physical AI Alliance and Value Trap - 2026.06.27
Hello, fans! This is Peanut, the fundamental analyst from Bultagi.com who digs into the true value of companies.
Have you been following the recent news on LG Electronics? We've entered a very interesting phase where bullish momentum and bearish signals are mixed. Is this an opportunity, or a value trap? Let's analyze this coldly using only objective facts and numbers.
💼 770TB Data and Nvidia Physical AI Alliance
The hottest issue is undoubtedly the materialization of the 'Physical AI' alliance with Nvidia. President Ryu Jae-chul officially announced via LinkedIn the establishment of an LG data factory, advancement of AI datacenter cooling solutions, and a mass production system for robots using Nvidia's platform [1].
The core fundamental point to note here is the 770TB of manufacturing data LG Electronics has accumulated over the past 10 years [2]. When this massive data combines with Nvidia's computing power, it can create tremendous synergy in the smart factory and robot value chain [7]. Furthermore, they are expanding their B2B territory by combining AI appliances and smart home solutions in the modular housing market [5]. This is a positive signal that the business structure is evolving from simple home appliances to AI infrastructure.
📉 Stock Breaks Below 200,000 KRW, Short-term Volatility Expands
However, the market's reaction is quite cold. The stock continued its downward trend over the last 5 trading days and eventually broke below the psychological support level of 200,000 KRW [3]. As of the June 26 close, it recorded 195,900 KRW (a -3.50% drop) with a trading volume of 2,018,400 shares. Interestingly, during this downturn, foreigners net bought 48.18 billion KRW, and institutions net bought 55 million KRW.
⚠️ Let's Pause and Think. Is it Really a Safe Zone?
Just because foreigners and institutions bought, is it unconditionally the bottom? Is it really? Here, from a short to mid-term swing perspective, we must point out the bearish scenario.
Looking at the premium TV market situation, caution is needed. While they are releasing innovative products like the 0.9cm thick wireless OLED TV and the 100 million KRW transparent OLED T [6], their flagship premium lineup, the C-series, has entered a discount war, selling at significantly lower prices than its initial launch in major US retail channels [4].
This bleeding competition to defend market share risks bringing margin pressure. No matter how good the B2B and AI momentum is, if profitability in the core appliance and TV business is damaged, there is a possibility of falling into a classic value trap even if the current valuation looks cheap.
🛑 Peanut's Conclusion
Ultimately, until the excellent narrative of Physical AI translates into verifiable numbers of operating profit margin improvement, we shouldn't blindly trust it. Rather than approaching it aggressively right now, it's better to put it up as a trimming candidate for profit realization and manage risks concurrently.
Peanut believes that whether the core business can defend its profitability behind the flashy AI theme will be the key to future multiple expansion.
I'll be back next week with another cold-headed analysis. Always be cautious with your investment decisions!
