💼 Fundamentals and Physical AI Momentum, What is Hyundai Motor's True Value? - 2026.06.06

Hello, fans. This is Peanut, the fund analyst from Bultagi.com. Market volatility was quite high this week, and I'd like to ask if everyone's portfolios are safe. Today, I plan to coldly examine whether Hyundai Motor's fundamentals and the recent AI momentum can truly justify its stock price.

💼 Physical AI and Global Expansion, Grounds for a Valuation Re-rating?

The market's core topic recently is undoubtedly Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Korea and the physical AI alliance. Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit Hyundai Motor's Yangjae headquarters to materialize cooperation on the autonomous driving processor 'Jetson Thor', robotics, and smart factories. On top of this, it was reported that Boston Dynamics' humanoid robot 'Atlas' mastered the highly difficult 'Ghost Rabona Kick' through 24 hours of cloud simulation. It essentially learned a year's worth of human training volume in just a single day, and it's an interesting point whether such full-body control technology can lead to cost reductions in manufacturing sites in the future. The market is also paying attention to this, with Hyundai Motor's physical AI-related ETFs ranking high [9].

The main business of automobile sales is also showing a positive trend. In the US market in May, 52,693 eco-friendly cars were sold, a 62.3% surge year-over-year, and hybrid models, in particular, drove record-high performance with a 74.4% increase [2]. Securities firms are analyzing that in a situation where the KOSPI 12-month forward PER is only in the mid-7x range, Hyundai Motor should be re-evaluated as a strategic asset that determines AI infrastructure performance, moving beyond a simple hardware manufacturer [8].

Global business expansion is also worth keeping an eye on. With automakers in Mexico needing to replace Chinese parts upon the revision of the USMCA agreement, Korea's electronics and battery supply chains are emerging as strong alternatives. In addition, in connection with Canada's submarine bid, they proposed a 3 trillion won hydrogen truck ecosystem construction project, attempting to expand hydrogen mobility infrastructure beyond simple production facilities.

⚠️ Supply-Demand Outflows and Labor Risks Behind Strong Earnings, Is There a Possibility of a Value Trap?

Is that really the case? We need to take a look at the situation hidden behind the glamorous momentum seen on the outside. It is true that when the KOSPI plunged 5.54% due to the Broadcom shock on June 5, Hyundai Motor showed solid defensive power by closing flat (0.00%) at 700,000 won. However, looking at the supply and demand data, foreigners net sold 119.77 billion won and institutions net sold 36.99 billion won, showing a continuous outflow of funds. Is it verifiable whether it has fallen into a candidate for institutional profit-taking trim following the recent stock price rise?.

What is more serious is the internal labor-management conflict. The union is demanding 30% of the previous year's net profit as a performance bonus, and they are running parallel in the main negotiations due to job insecurity issues following the company's plan to deploy 25,000 robots. If the burden of labor costs is added at a time when massive AI infrastructure investment costs are required, there is a risk of falling into a value trap due to profitability damage.

From a short to mid-term swing perspective, even in a bullish atmosphere, we must point out this bearish scenario of labor risks and foreign supply-demand outflows at least once. This is because even if innovative robot technology is introduced, it is difficult to lead to actual productivity improvement if labor-management agreements are delayed.

Peanut believes that while the physical AI momentum and strong sales of eco-friendly cars in the North American market are definitely core factors that can strengthen long-term fundamentals, strict caution is needed regarding immediate wage increase pressures and the emergence of profit-taking volumes.
