🍠 LG CNS: What Remains to Be Done After the AI Data Center Is Completed - 2026.11.02
Hi, it’s Goguma 🍠 The hottest story today is LG CNS completing its AI data center in Indonesia. Built in Jakarta with a capacity of 30MW, it is reportedly the first case of a Korean company constructing an AI data center overseas on-site for a client [1]. Even more interesting, the entire capacity had reportedly been sold before completion [1]. In other words, all the space was spoken for before construction was even finished.
The facility is full; now we’re wondering how big it can get 📦
There was also news that the facility is planned to expand to 400MW through subsequent phases [2]. Here’s where I pause: how quickly the completed 30MW will translate into actual revenue and profit, and how quickly the 400MW expansion will take shape. The article described the expansion only as a “plan,” so it shouldn’t be read as though the company has confirmed the schedule or scale. Put simply, the factory doors are open, while talk of expanding the production line is still at the blueprint stage.
AX is quietly bringing in more customers, too ⚖️
There’s movement on the AX order front as well. LG CNS was selected as the preferred negotiating partner for the Supreme Court-commissioned project “Building an Intelligent Platform for AI-Based Criminal Trials and Sentencing Support,” and reportedly signed the main contract on October 30 [3]. The project is worth approximately 10,200,000,000 KRW, and aims to upgrade the existing sentencing system and provide sentencing information [3]. Yonhap Infomax’s description of the company—which has spent years building banking IT systems—setting out to use AI to change the way work itself is done fits the same trend [4]. My take is that the picture of selling both the data center as the facility and AX as what goes inside it is becoming clearer. That’s just my interpretation, though, and there are no figures yet showing how much these orders will contribute to results.
Views in the securities industry are mixed 🎯
Daishin Securities maintained its “Buy” rating on LG CNS, saying that expansion into external businesses would add to growth in finance and cloud services [5]. This is Daishin Securities’ view only. It shouldn’t be read as a plan or promise confirmed by the company, and the target price figures have not been sufficiently verified across sources, so I’ll share only the general direction here. Looking at the share price, it posted a -8.48% change from its October 30 closing price of ₩71,200, then jumped +8.17% on November 2 to close at ₩78,100. It seems too early to draw a big conclusion from a day or two of volatility.
So, what questions remain? 🤝
From November 2 to 4, a briefing on third-quarter results and a Q&A session for major domestic institutional investors is reportedly being held in Seoul through one-on-one meetings [6]. Here’s how I’d sum up the four viewpoints. I’ll leave disagreements as they are rather than forcing them into agreement. The direction of the expansion news is clear, but until it’s proven in the numbers, bullish and bearish scenarios are still in play. So I’d rather keep three questions in mind: How quickly will the completed 30MW feed into results? How will the 400MW expansion plan take shape? And how will the third-quarter explanation at the IR event align with market expectations? That’s Goguma’s wrap-up for today.
