🌰 Doosan Enerbility: Between Overseas Inquiries and the 60,000 KRW Level - 2026.10.27

Hi, it’s me, Dotori 🌰 I’m back with the value-chain chalkboard today. Looking at the big picture, lately the story around Doosan Enerbility is being heard on the ground before it shows up on the stock chart.

As K-nuclear power gains value, overseas buyers’ attention is reportedly turning to Doosan Enerbility, a leading domestic manufacturer of major nuclear power equipment. On that day alone, 18 overseas companies applied for export consultations, and schedules for factory visits by overseas customers overlapped, making it difficult to coordinate consultation times [1]. The stock is slipping while the factory floor is busy—this contrast is the most intriguing part. 😮

🔗 Stock trend: the 60,000 KRW level stands out

Let’s start with the numbers. The closing price on the 23rd was ₩58,900, and it closed weaker at ₩57,700 on the 26th [2]. On the 27th, it rose to ₩58,800, recording a +2.08% gain. In the short term, attention is focused on whether it can recover the 60,000 KRW level [2], while investors are also watching whether the earnings announcement could affect this trend [5]. Looking one step deeper, we keep seeing individual news and the stock price move in different directions. That raises the question: will this connection show up in earnings?

⚙️ Brokerage outlook and the SMR arena

Structurally, nuclear power and gas turbines are at the center of the earnings story. CBC News reported that Kyobo Securities expects profit growth in the nuclear power and gas turbine divisions in 2027 [3]. This is a brokerage forecast, not a plan announced by the company, so it should be read as a conditional view. A report published the same day also said the stock had risen in the 3% range, but that figure did not match other price data, so I’ve left it out.

Zooming out, there’s also the SMR story. At the first IAEA Nuclear Energy Ministerial Conference held in Korea, discussions covered the safe development and demonstration of SMRs. TerraPower, NuScale Power, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Doosan Enerbility, and Hyundai Engineering attended. Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon also mentioned the direction of SMRs [4]. A value chain only works when its gears mesh, so the next question is who will take on which gear.

I think the value-chain story will gain traction if these connections lead to actual orders and earnings.

🏭 Three variables still to watch

There’s also news on the affiliate front. Digital Today reported that Doosan Enerbility decided to invest 40,000,000,000 KRW in Doosan New Technology Investment Partnership No. 2, managed by an affiliate [6]. The details have not yet been confirmed, so where this money will go remains an open question.

To sum up, three variables remain: whether the stock can move back above the 60,000 KRW level, what the upcoming earnings announcement reveals, and whether the 18 overseas consultations lead to actual contracts. If these three factors come together, the value-chain picture will become clearer. With overseas buyers lining up at the factory, what numbers will they bring back in the next round? 🌰
