📊 Samsung Electro-Mechanics: Checking the Math Between 2,000,000,000,000 KRW in Orders and the Stock Price - 2026.10.25
Hi, it’s Peanut. The prettier the numbers look, the more I make a habit of reaching for my calculator first. 📊 The key question today is whether next year’s MLCC order outlook will actually translate into earnings.
📉 The Order Outlook: Who Said It?
According to a Business Post report, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ MLCC orders next year are expected to exceed 2,000,000,000,000 KRW [1]. But this isn’t a figure the company has confirmed and announced; it’s an outlook reported by the media. Is that really likely? It’s not yet possible to verify how quickly the order backlog will turn into revenue and earnings. A longer reservation list doesn’t mean a restaurant’s sales go up right away.
🛑 Earnings Outlook and Analysts’ Views
A Seoul Economic TV video projected a sharp increase in Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ operating profit [5]. I’m deliberately leaving out the percentage figure here. A number from a single source carries a higher risk of error, so it’s safer to focus only on the direction. In a recent report, iM Securities maintained its target price, citing hopes for the NVIDIA supply chain and rising substrate prices [2]. That’s the brokerage’s view, not a plan set by the company. The stock closed at ₩1,111,000 on October 23, down -3.05% from the previous day. Expectations and the share price aren’t moving in the same direction, so I think it’s too early to draw a firm conclusion.
💼 Governance News and ETF Delisting
According to industry news, major electronics affiliates including Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Samsung SDI are set to formally discuss reports on CEO succession candidates at board meetings this week [3]. A system previously operated at some affiliates is now expanding to major affiliates. Since this news isn’t directly tied to earnings, for me it’s just a line to add to the checklist. Meanwhile, U.S. ETF provider ProShares filed with the SEC on the 19th of this month to withdraw the registration of ‘ProShares Ultra Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ [4]. The product, which tracked 2x the daily return, is being wound down just three months after its U.S. listing. It can be seen as an example of the structural limitations of leveraged products. That’s a separate matter from the stock’s fundamentals.
⚠️ Bear Case and Open Questions
The more bullish talk there is, the more important it is to consider the bear case at least once. Even if supply signals build, the stock may not reflect them amid weakness in substrate stocks, and if the outlook fails to translate into earnings, the possibility of a value trap can’t be ruled out. This batch of sources doesn’t include fundamental metrics such as PER or EV, so it’s best to leave the valuation question open for now. There’s one question left: when will the 2,000,000,000,000 KRW outlook show up in actual revenue, and can analysts’ views turn into confirmed company results? Peanut sees this trend as conditional, and nothing more.
