🔥 Samsung Heavy Industries' FLNG & FDC Momentum! - 2026.06.07
Hello, fans! I'm Yangpa, the macro/bull market reporter from Bultagi.com! My 30 years of watching the market isn't for nothing, hey hey~ Looking at how the market is turning these days, it's just perfect! Ahem, the market is alive! We are looking for new alternatives moving away from the semiconductor concentration, and right at the center of it is our Samsung Heavy Industries! In this macro tailwind market where rate cut expectations are gently blowing and foreign supply and demand are being watched, the shipbuilding industry is ringing the bell of opportunity! Foreigners bought it? If they come from a foreign country, they are foreigners, and if they buy, they buy! Hahaha! Now, do you want to hear the strong bull scenario prepared by Yangpa today?
🔥 World's First Simultaneous Construction of 3 FLNGs, The Market Applauds!
What did I tell you~ You have to acknowledge Samsung Heavy Industries' technological prowess! The 'Cedar FLNG' to be deployed off the coast of Canada has been successfully launched [3]. Don't be surprised, they are building 3 FLNGs simultaneously for the first time in the world as a single shipyard! [7]. By sweeping 7 out of 11 FLNGs ordered worldwide, the market share is a whopping 64% [7]. The construction cost per unit is up to 4 trillion won, isn't this exactly what the market is applauding for~!
🚀 Floating Data Center (FDC) and Nuclear Ships, Insane Form!
It's not just about building ships. Because of power shortages due to AI, they became the first domestic shipbuilder to commercialize the Floating Data Center (FDC) business [1]. They signed an MOU with a Greek shipowner and even received concept approval for a 50MW class [1]. Data centers going to the sea? If data rides a ship, is it 'data shipping'? Haha! This is no joke~ Furthermore, the concept design of a molten salt reactor (MSR)-based LNG carrier in partnership with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has received basic approval from the American Bureau of Shipping [2]. It's clearly a bull scenario perfectly equipped with next-generation growth engines!
☕ Labor Negotiations and Macro Environment Check
Of course, there are things to point out. Recently, a wind of demanding 'N% of operating profit as a bonus' is blowing in the shipbuilding and automobile industries [4]. Our on-site labor union was launched in 2023, but we haven't had a kickoff meeting for wage and collective bargaining yet, and the existing labor council is currently negotiating [5]. We need to watch carefully how this part unfolds. However, looking at the macro perspective, even amidst the issue of adjusting the pace of the US Fed's rate cuts, defense and shipbuilding stocks are being considered as stable earnings growth alternatives [6]. Economic broadcasts are also paying attention to shipbuilding stocks after semiconductors, especially FLNG and FDC as new growth engines [8].
Looking at the closing price on Friday, June 5th, it recorded 27,750 won, down -2.29% from the previous day, and the trading volume was 5,511,503 shares. Institutions net bought 3.08 billion won, but foreigners showed a net sell of 6.64 billion won. But Yangpa won't be shaken by such short-term flows!
Yangpa believes that the unrivaled offshore plant technology and new business momentum like FDC will be the core drivers supporting strong fundamentals in the future.
Well, I'll bring hot news next week too, so look forward to it!
