🧅 LG CNS, third-quarter earnings meet data center customers - 2026.10.30

Well now, Onion’s here~ 🧅 It’s earnings day, so I grabbed a cup of coffee and came right over ☕ Let’s dig into the numbers first—the market can breathe easy once there’s talk of earnings.

📊 Third-quarter numbers—looking pretty good, huh?

The company said it recorded third-quarter revenue of 1,664,300,000,000 KRW and operating profit of 138,200,000,000 KRW [2]. Revenue was up 9.3%, while operating profit rose 15% [1]. The growth was attributed to AI and cloud businesses, as well as revenue from next-generation system projects for financial institutions [2]. Looking at those two points alone, that’s a pretty clean quarter.

But here’s the thing: the stock closed at ₩71,800 that same day, down -6.99%. It fell on the very day the company announced good results, so I tilted my head a little, too. It slid from an opening price of ₩76,400 to an intraday low of ₩71,200, so it was quite a bumpy ride. The articles didn’t give a reason for the decline, so I won’t make one up. Goodness, a day when the numbers are smiling but the chart is crying.

🚀 Indonesia data center: tenants matter more than the building

We’ve talked about data centers several times before, so this time I’ll focus on the new developments. The Jakarta data center in Indonesia is expected to be completed early next month [3]. There was also a report saying completion is scheduled for then [6]. The really important point is that the company said on its conference call that it had finished securing tenants [4].

A data center doesn’t make money just because you’ve built the place—you need customers to move in for it to be a proper “center.” A center with no customers is just an empty room, isn’t it~ haha. That’s why news that the space is fully leased feels to me like a macro tailwind has just kicked in! The company said it plans further development in Indonesia and projects across Asia-Pacific, while also exploring expansion into North America and Europe using its modular technology [3].

🔮 Here’s what the outlook looks like

The conference call also included a forecast that full-year revenue will grow at a high-single-digit rate compared with the previous year [5]. This was reported as a forecast, not a figure the company has confirmed. Onion thinks the bullish scenario becomes clearer if overseas data centers actually generate rental income. That said, this is only a possibility for now, not a confirmed result.

🧅 One question remains

Let me leave you with one question. How much will the third-quarter earnings growth translate into overseas data center rental revenue and growth in AI and cloud? And why did the stock fall on the day of the announcement? I think we’ll need to wait for the market to provide more answers. I haven’t spent 30 years watching the market for nothing—when the numbers and the customers move together, the market knows how to applaud~! 📈
