⚠️ LS: Will ESS mass production and orders translate into holding company value? - 2026.08.06

Hi, it’s Peanut. LS Electric has shipped the ‘G2’ PCS for next-generation ESS and entered mass production. The key point this time is that it has moved beyond a product announcement into the production phase—but will this execution really extend to the value of LS’s holding company? 📉

Why entering mass production matters more than shipping ESS

LS Electric held an initial shipment ceremony for the ‘G2’ PCS for next-generation ESS at its Cheonan DC Factory in Chungcheongnam-do on August 5 and entered mass production. The initial products are reportedly intended for the global market [1]. Electronic Times also confirmed G2’s first shipment and highlighted the expansion of ESS-related business and the full-scale start of production [2], while MoneyToday reported that full-scale mass production had begun at the Cheonan DC Factory [3].

What matters here is not simply ‘whether it shipped,’ but ‘whether it can lead to repeat production and actual revenue.’ The fact that a production system is in place has been confirmed, but the materials provided do not allow us to assess profitability or the order backlog. A factory opening does not automatically fill in the income statement.

The picture connecting to North American orders

A report also said that LS Electric Chairman Koo Ja-kyun visited the Cheonan DC Factory to inspect the production system for key next-generation ESS equipment, and that LS Electric recorded 400,000,000,000 KRW in North American revenue in the second quarter. The company is also strengthening its approach to the integrated battery ESS market [4], meaning G2’s global shipments and North American business expansion are pointing in the same direction.

LS Electric was also introduced as having secured orders worth 1,200,000,000,000 KRW from North American big tech companies in the first half of this year alone. The company can supply a broad range of power equipment for AI data centers, including ultrahigh-voltage transformers, medium- and low-voltage switchboards, and power management systems [5]. However, separate verification is needed to determine how much and when these orders will be reflected in LS’s overall results and the holding company’s cash flow.

Expansion across affiliates, including LS Eco Energy

There was also a report that LS Eco Energy achieved its best-ever first-half performance, driven by demand from AI data centers and power grids [6]. When tracking LS, whether demand for power infrastructure continues across its affiliates is clearly an important point to watch. However, these materials do not provide specific performance figures for LS Eco Energy or the effect attributable to LS’s holding company. ‘A tailwind across the group’ and ‘a numerical reflection in holding company value’ are not the same statement.

Valuation check: between expectations and results

LS shares closed at ₩328,500, on August 6, with a change of -0.15% and trading volume of 210,188. If prices have moved rapidly recently, the possibility of a value trap—where expectations run ahead of results—also warrants conditional caution in the short- to medium-term swing zone. Can we verify that ESS mass production, North American orders, and affiliate results are leading to actual earnings and a reduction in the holding company discount?

Peanut believes the possibility remains open that ESS production and North American power equipment orders could establish a new growth axis for LS, but these developments alone are not enough to conclude that a revaluation is warranted. The variables still ahead are G2’s revenue scale and profitability, the timing of revenue recognition for North American orders, and the speed at which affiliate performance connects to LS holding company figures. The key question remains whether expectations are running first with results following, or whether the numbers are actually catching up.
