LG CNS Deep Dive — Korea's New Financial Infrastructure Company
Classifying LG CNS simply as an 'LG Group IT subsidiary' is no longer accurate. As of 2026, the company stands as the second-largest cloud MSP in Korea, the sole developer of the Bank of Korea's CBDC system, the first Korean IT firm to enter the Southeast Asian AI data center market, and the first Korean IT service provider to step into the physical AI market.

Prologue
Why the second cheer is different
The market cheered for the same stock twice. However, the quality of the two cheers is decisively different. What made that difference was not the chart, but policy.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2026, LG CNS stock soared +18.91% in a single day. From an opening of 75,100 KRW to a closing price of 86,100 KRW, 9.61 million shares—8–9 times the average—changed hands. The market clearly cheered. However, that cheer did not last long. On the next trading day, May 15, the stock started with a gap-up at 93,700 KRW, hit a new high of 99,400 KRW intraday, but plunged -13% to a close of 86,600 KRW, forming a bearish candle with a 12.8% upper wick. Over the following five trading days, the stock retraced to 71,200 KRW. A single surge was absorbed by a single layer of sell-side pressure.
Exactly two weeks later, on Wednesday, May 27, the same stock soared once again. Starting at an opening of 83,100 KRW, the stock dipped to 79,400 KRW during the day before closing at 94,600 KRW. This is just below the intraday high of 95,700 KRW. Trading volume was 5.01 million shares, 4.5 times the average (1.12 million). While lower than May 14, it was decisively different in that the closing price settled at 93% of the intraday range. With an upper wick of only 1.2%, it was a bullish candle clearly recording the fact that buying pressure dominated the day.
"The difference between the two charts lies in the upper wick: 12.8% vs 1.2%.
But the real difference lies in policy."
This report makes one thing clear from the first page: The May 27th surge in LG CNS was not simple momentum trading. The market began to reflect in the price the fact that the company is solely laying the infrastructure for Korea's digital currency, and that a new market called the KRW stablecoin will soon open on top of it. On May 8, the National Assembly's National Policy Committee began full-scale discussions on the Digital Asset Basic Act, and an integrated bill from the Democratic Party is imminent for the same month. The core is singular: The institutional adoption of the KRW stablecoin. And when asked who would build the infrastructure for that KRW stablecoin, the market already knew the name of one company.
LG CNS is the sole prime contractor for "Project Hangang," the Bank of Korea's CBDC real-transaction test. The system for this pilot project, in which seven commercial banks—Kookmin, Shinhan, Woori, Hana, IBK, Nonghyup, and Busan—are participating, is in the hands of this company. And in a January 2026 conference call, the company stated clearly: "Based on the results of the BOK CBDC, we will target security tokens and stablecoins."
This report examines that company through five perspectives: Onion looking at macro, Acorn looking at industry and policy, Peanut looking at fundamentals and bearish scenarios, and Carrot looking at charts and sentiment. And Goguma, who synthesizes those four perspectives. The conclusion is surprisingly clear: We buy, but we do not chase. The question this report aims to answer is at what price range one should enter to be safe, and what policy timeline one should watch to reach that price range.
Chapter 1
What kind of company is LG CNS?
It is no longer accurate to classify LG CNS simply as an "LG Group IT subsidiary." As of 2026, this company is the second-largest cloud MSP in Korea, the sole builder of the Bank of Korea's CBDC system, the first Korean IT company to enter the Southeast Asian AI data center market, and the first Korean IT service firm to step into the physical AI market.

Through the February 2025 IPO, approximately 1 trillion KRW in new capital was raised, and the debt-to-equity ratio improved significantly from 112% just before the IPO to 67%. Cash and short-term financial assets amount to approximately 1.54 trillion KRW. Where this capital flows is the key variable for future multiple revaluation.
Key Clients & References
LG CNS's client portfolio is divided into two lines. First is LG Group affiliates. LG Chem (approx. 505.1 billion KRW annually), LG Electronics (approx. 458.9 billion KRW), LG Uplus (approx. 125.4 billion KRW), LG Energy Solution, and LG Display provide a stable backlog. Second are external clients: Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, and Hana Bank in finance; POSCO and Hyundai Steel in manufacturing; and the Bank of Korea, National Tax Service, Korea Customs Service, and Korea Expressway Corporation in the public sector are major references.
As of 2026, the most significant external reference is the Bank of Korea. LG CNS is the only company in Korea entrusted directly by the Bank of Korea to build digital currency infrastructure, and this single fact fundamentally distinguishes the company's value from other IT service firms.
Chapter 2
What happened on May 27th?
It is not common for a stock to surge twice within two weeks. And if the second surge is a healthier form chart-wise than the first, the market usually places deeper trust in the second. LG CNS on May 27 is exactly that case.
+14.11%
May 27, 2026 Closing Price 94,600 KRW · Volume 5.01 million shares (4.5x average)
Five triggers of May 27th
The trigger for the May 27th surge was not a single positive event, but the simultaneous occurrence of five events. The first and most decisive of these is policy.
Trigger 1 · Full-scale discussion of Digital Asset Basic Act in National Policy Committee
On May 8, the National Assembly's National Policy Committee began full-scale discussions on the Digital Asset Basic Act. The introduction of an integrated bill led by the Democratic Party is imminent, and the core is the institutional adoption of the KRW stablecoin. It is being considered to prioritize allowing issuance to consortia with 50%+1 share owned by banks, and this consortium exactly overlaps with the seven commercial banks that LG CNS is already operating with through "Project Hangang."
Trigger 2 · Exclusive report on entry into Physical AI market
Just before the market close on May 27, a media outlet exclusively reported that LG CNS filed a trademark for a brand called "Physical Works." Physical AI is a new industry category opened by NVIDIA's Cosmos World Foundation Model and Project GR00T (humanoid learning platform) announced in 2025. LG CNS has become the first Korean IT service firm to enter this area.
Trigger 3 · LG EXAONE + 1 Trillion KRW Order
News broke the same week that EXAONE, LG Group's proprietary large language model, contributed to a 1 trillion KRW order. One outlet described this as "proving AI that really makes money." EXAONE is not a substitute for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, but an enterprise-integrated solution with strengths in Korean and sovereign AI.
Trigger 4 · Samsong Data Center 780 Billion KRW + Indonesia AI DC
Two orders announced last April only began to be reflected in market valuations in May. First is the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) project for the Samsong Data Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, with at least 780 billion KRW in revenue confirmed. Second is the Indonesian AI data center order. It is the first AI-specific data center ordered by a Korean IT firm in the Southeast Asian market, with completion scheduled for the end of 2026.
Trigger 5 · First big test after complete overhang resolution
LG CNS is a stock that went public in February 2025. Immediately after listing, the biggest supply/demand burden was the 8.3% remaining stake held by private equity firm Macquarie PE. This stake was sold via block deal on January 28, 2026, and was completely resolved, and the 21.5% lock-up for Crystal Korea in August 2025 has also already passed. In other words, the May 27th surge is the first big momentum after the structural selling wall disappeared.
Decisive difference between May 14 and May 27
| Classification | May 14 | May 15 | May 27 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening Price | 74,100 KRW | 93,700 KRW (Gap-up) | 83,100 KRW |
| Intraday High | 88,400 KRW | 99,400 KRW | 95,700 KRW |
| Intraday Low | 74,500 KRW | 83,500 KRW | 79,400 KRW |
| Closing Price | 86,100 KRW | 86,600 KRW | 94,600 KRW |
| Vs. Opening | +16.2% | -7.6% (Bearish candle) | +13.8% |
| Upper Wick | 2.7% | 12.8% | 1.2% |
| Close/Intraday Range | 83% position | 19% position | 93% position |
| Volume | 9.61M | 7.33M | 5.01M |
One thing the chart says. On May 14, buying pressure exploded right after the open and was absorbed by the selling wall the next day. On May 27, it dipped to an intraday low of 79,400 KRW once, but the close settled just below the intraday high of 95,700 KRW. The 1.2% upper wick and the 93% position of the close in the intraday range record the fact that buying pressure dominated the day.
Chapter 3
Project Hangang — Sole builder of CBDC
Since 2024, the Bank of Korea has been conducting "Project Hangang" to verify whether a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) works in an environment actually used by ordinary citizens. And the company solely entrusted with building that system is LG CNS.
Structure of Project Hangang
Project Hangang is a two-tier model that combines wholesale CBDC issued by the Bank of Korea (for interbank settlement) and deposit tokens issued by commercial banks on top of it (for retail). Within this model, the Bank of Korea issues wholesale CBDC and distributes it to commercial banks, and commercial banks issue deposit tokens to their customers using that wholesale CBDC as collateral. Ordinary citizens receive these deposit tokens in their smartphone wallets and use them for daily payments.
| Participants | Role |
|---|---|
| Bank of Korea | Wholesale CBDC issuance, system governance, regulation |
| LG CNS | Sole system builder — Core blockchain infrastructure, interbank settlement module, deposit token issuance module |
| KB Kookmin Bank | Deposit token issuance + general customer service |
| Shinhan Bank | Same |
| Woori Bank | Same |
| Hana Bank | Same |
| Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) | Same |
| NongHyup Bank | Same |
| Busan Bank | Same |
The first phase of system construction is already complete, and subsequent upgrade projects will continue until the first half of 2026. The Bank of Korea is keeping the possibility of commercializing CBDCs in 2026 or 2027 open, provided that follow-up test results and relevant legal framework updates proceed in parallel.
Why LG CNS was chosen as the sole provider
There are three reasons why the Bank of Korea selected LG CNS as the sole contractor. First, the company's experience in building blockchain infrastructure. LG CNS has operated its own blockchain platform, 'Monachain,' since 2018 and has a track record of building the 'Dongbaekjeon' blockchain-based local currency system for Busan Metropolitan City. Second, its deep expertise in the financial SI (System Integration) sector. Its history of successfully executing next-generation system construction projects for major commercial banks such as Shinhan, KB Kookmin, and Woori Bank met the Bank of Korea's trust criteria. Third, policy considerations regarding the need for a stable and verifiable operator in the government and public sector ahead of its IPO.
The significance of Project Hangang's revenue
Direct revenue from Project Hangang itself is estimated at approximately 50 to 80 billion KRW combined for 2025–2026. While the revenue itself is merely 1% of LG CNS's annual revenue of 6 trillion KRW, the true significance of this revenue lies not in the numbers, but in the fact that "one company is creating the standard for Korea's digital currency infrastructure". The pricing for subsequent stablecoin, token security, and bank consortium projects will be determined based on this standard.
Key insight. None of Samsung SDS, Megazone, SK C&C, Kakao, or Naver were entrusted by the Bank of Korea to build the CBDC system. LG CNS is the only company in Korea currently setting the standard for digital currency infrastructure. This fact itself is the foundational condition for a future valuation multiple jump.
The significance of the 2026 first-half upgrade project
There are two known key tasks for the follow-up upgrade project running until the first half of 2026. First, research into issuing stablecoins collateralized by wholesale CBDC. This is a PoC (Proof of Concept) for a model where commercial banks issue stablecoins backed by wholesale CBDC issued by the Bank of Korea. This structure is highly likely to be adopted as the fastest and safest issuance model when the KRW stablecoin market opens. Second, a PoC for transitioning to a high-speed processing blockchain, such as Avalanche. This is a technical verification to overcome the processing speed limitations of the base blockchain currently used by Project Hangang.
Chapter 4
KRW Stablecoin — Infrastructure Operator for a New Market
The Lee Jae-myung administration defined virtual assets as "future financial infrastructure" upon its inauguration and set the enactment of the Digital Asset Basic Act as a key task. A consolidated bill was proposed under the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, and full-scale discussions began at the National Assembly's National Policy Committee on May 8. The core of this bill is the institutionalization of KRW stablecoins, and the market already knows the answer to who will build that infrastructure.
Key provisions of the Digital Asset Basic Act
| Provision | Content | Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Issuance of KRW-linked digital assets | Permit issuance of stablecoins pegged 1:1 to the KRW | Opening of a KRW-based stablecoin market, moving away from USD-based USDT/USDC |
| Issuance requirements | Prioritize consortiums where banks hold 50%+1 share (proposed) | Bank-centered issuance model → LG CNS's relationships with 7 commercial banks become a direct asset |
| Requirements for domestic distribution of foreign stablecoins | Mandatory licensing and KYC for domestic distribution of USDT/USDC | Setting entry barriers for foreign stablecoins in the Korean market |
| Permit domestic ICOs | Legalization of the domestic token issuance market | Opening of a general token issuance market alongside Security Token Offerings (STO) |
| Establishment of the Digital Asset Committee | Presidential policy-dedicated body | Policy continuity and prioritization |
| Reserve/Capital requirements | 100% KRW deposit of issuance amount + capital requirements | Entry barriers for non-banks, ensuring issuer reliability |
Three pillars of LG CNS's stablecoin business
LG CNS explicitly stated the three pillars of its stablecoin business during its conference call on January 27, 2026.
Three Pillars of LG CNS Stablecoin Business (Official Company Announcement)
- Issuer Platform — KRW stablecoin issuance infrastructure for a consortium of 7 commercial banks. Issuance module compatible with Bank of Korea CBDC + 100% reserve management + lifecycle management of issuance, burning, and reissuance.
- Payment Rails — Stablecoin payment solutions for card companies, payment gateways (PG), and simple payment providers (Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, Toss). Interface connecting existing card/account payment networks with stablecoin payment networks.
- STO Infrastructure — Infrastructure for Security Token Offering (STO) exchanges and securities firms. Integrated infrastructure where stablecoins are used as settlement tools for STO trading.
These three pillars are not just a list of business units, but a clear declaration by the company that "we will become the infrastructure operator for the entire Korean KRW stablecoin ecosystem". A model where one company takes on all three areas—issuance, payment, and securities—is rare even in the global market, and LG CNS is the only one doing so in the Korean market.
Integration of Agentic AI
In addition to the three pillars above, LG CNS adds "Agentic AI" as an integrated variable. Agentic AI refers to systems where AI judges and acts on its own; once deeply integrated into overall financial operations, the company will position itself one step higher, moving from a simple IT system builder to an "autonomous AI infrastructure operator." This strategy is a key differentiator clearly stated by the company in its January 2026 conference call. It is a vision to create payment infrastructure where AI handles everything from fraud detection, KYC automation, and abnormal transaction monitoring to customer service, rather than just a simple payment system. **"Agentic AI"**Agentic AI refers to systems where AI judges and acts on its own, and if deeply integrated into overall financial operations, it moves beyond a simple IT system builder to become an _autonomous AI infrastructure operator_one step higher. Potential size of the KRW stablecoin market
The scale of KRW payments in Korea is approximately 3,000 trillion KRW annually. Even if only 10% of this moves to stablecoins, a new infrastructure market worth approximately 300 trillion KRW will open. While the market is fragmented across various areas like payments, remittances, securities trading, and deposit tokenization, the core infrastructure (issuance, settlement, KYC, blockchain) is highly likely to be monopolized by a few operators.
300 trillion KRW
Market size assuming 10% of the Korean KRW payment market shifts to stablecoins
Let's make a simple assumption about the infrastructure operator's market share within this market. If LG CNS captures 20% of the issuance platform market, 15% of the payment system market, and 10% of the securities trading infrastructure market, it is estimated that infrastructure operating revenue could reach approximately 1.5 trillion KRW annually. This is equivalent to 25% of LG CNS's current annual revenue of 6 trillion KRW. Note, however, that this is a scenario possible only when the market fully forms after 2028, and until then, several variables such as policy passage, confirmation of issuers, technical stability, and the entry of competitors must be navigated.
Variables in determining the issuer
One of the core issues of the bill is who will be limited as the issuer. While the current proposal is to prioritize "consortiums where banks hold 50%+1 share," there is a possibility that fintech firms, securities firms, and even virtual asset exchanges could be added as issuers. If the number of issuers diversifies, the value of LG CNS's existing relationships with the 7 commercial banks may be partially diluted. However, since the company's three pillars cover issuance, payments, and securities, it is highly likely that its position as an infrastructure operator will be maintained regardless of who the issuer is.
Chapter 5
Global Stablecoin and CBDC Trends
The Korean KRW stablecoin market is not opening in a vacuum. It is a structure where Korea joins the massive global flow of stablecoin/CBDC transition already underway, and Korean operators start with the learning effects from that global trend.
Current state of the global stablecoin market
The global stablecoin market capitalization surpassed approximately 300 billion USD in May 2026, up from about 150 billion USD in 2025. This is a two-fold growth in just one year. The two companies dominating the market are Tether(USDT) and Circle(USDC), and they account for over 90% of the market. Both companies are based on the US dollar.
| Stablecoin | Issuer | Market Cap (May 2026) | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| USDT (Tether) | Tether Limited | Approx. 180 billion USD | Global #1, focused on remittances/payments in emerging markets |
| USDC (USD Coin) | Circle Internet Financial | Approx. 95 billion USD | US/EU institutional-friendly, listed on NYSE in 2024 |
| DAI | MakerDAO | Approx. 6 billion USD | Decentralized, algorithm-based |
| PYUSD (PayPal) | PayPal | Approx. 1.2 billion USD | Fintech-issued stablecoin |
| EURC (Circle) | Circle | Approx. 800 million USD | Euro stablecoin, compliant with EU MiCA |
Institutionalization moves by governments
The global trend is clear. Governments around the world are rapidly institutionalizing stablecoins based on their domestic currencies.
| Region | Legislation | Status | Key Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| USA | GENIUS Act | Passed in 2025 | USD stablecoin issuer licensing + 100% reserves |
| EU | MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) | Implemented in 2024 | Integrated virtual asset regulation across the EU, stablecoin issuance authorization |
| UK | FCA Virtual Asset Regulation | Phased implementation 2025 | Prioritize bank-issued stablecoins |
| Japan | Payment Services Act Revision | Implemented in 2023 | Permit issuance by banks, trust companies, and fund transfer operators |
| Hong Kong | Stablecoin Regulatory Framework | Implemented in 2025 | HKMA (Monetary Authority) issuance authorization |
| South Korea | Digital Asset Basic Act | Under discussion at National Policy Committee 2026 | Consolidated bill for KRW stablecoin + STO + ICO |
CBDC trends in major countries
The global flow is also fast in terms of CBDCs. The People's Bank of China's digital yuan (e-CNY) began pilot operations in 2020, and as of 2026, cumulative transaction volume has surpassed 1 trillion USD. The European Central Bank (ECB) finished the preparation phase for the digital euro project in 2025 and entered full-scale issuance preparation for 2026–2028. The Bank of Japan has been conducting pilot projects since 2023 and is considering wholesale CBDC issuance around 2027. The Bank of England finished the design phase of the digital pound in 2024 and is awaiting a decision for 2026–2028.
The Bank of Korea's Project Hangang is a relatively advanced case within this global flow, currently conducting "retail CBDC real-transaction tests." Testing a CBDC in an environment where regular citizens actually use it for payments is one of the most significant cases after China, and the company that built that system exclusively is LG CNS. "retail CBDC real-transaction tests" is conducting. Testing a CBDC in an environment where regular citizens actually use it for payments is one of the most significant cases after China, and the company that built that system exclusively is LG CNS.
Multiple of a global infrastructure operator
The multiple at which the market evaluates Korean IT service companies is typically around 15x Forward PER. However, the multiples of companies classified globally as "financial infrastructure operators" are different. Companies like Visa, Mastercard, CME, and VeriSign receive multiples of 25–35x Forward PER. Circle's market capitalization immediately after its NYSE listing in 2024 was about 70 billion USD, reaching about 75% of USDC's market cap. In other words, it is a signal that the market assigns a higher value to the issuer infrastructure operator than to the issuance itself.
The logic of a multiple jump. If LG CNS is reclassified by the market from a Korean IT service company to a "financial infrastructure operator" within the next 3 to 5 years, a one-step jump from 15x Forward PER to 22–25x is possible. Assuming EPS of 5,500 KRW, an applied PER of 22x = 121,000 KRW, and 25x = 137,500 KRW is the result of a simple 12-month calculation.
Chapter 6
Security Token Offering (STO) — Infrastructure for a 367 trillion KRW market
Security Token Offering (STO) is a market where assets such as real estate, artwork, unlisted stocks, aircraft, ships, and intellectual property rights are fractionalized and issued as blockchain tokens for trading. Korea's Financial Services Commission has been pushing for STO institutionalization since 2023, and the market will open in earnest once the Digital Asset Basic Act is passed.
Potential size of the Korean STO market
Hana Institute of Finance estimates that the Korean STO market will grow to approximately 367 trillion KRW by 2030. Real estate tokenization is the largest single area, followed by artwork, intellectual property rights, and infrastructure assets. Unlisted stocks and fund interests also have the potential to be tokenized in stages.
367 trillion KRW
Estimated Size of Korean STO Market by 2030 (Hana Institute of Finance)
| Asset Category | Estimated Size in 2030 | Representative Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Real Estate | Approx. KRW 180 trillion | Fractional ownership of commercial buildings, logistics centers, and hotels |
| Art & Collectibles | Approx. KRW 25 trillion | Fractional ownership of artworks, rare wines, and watches |
| Intellectual Property | Approx. KRW 50 trillion | Tokenization of music copyrights, film rights, and patents |
| Infrastructure, Aircraft, & Vessels | Approx. KRW 35 trillion | Equity in logistics and transportation assets |
| Unlisted Stocks & Funds | Approx. KRW 77 trillion | Tokenization of startup equity and VC funds |
LG CNS's STO Business Model
LG CNS is targeting two positions in the STO market. The first is as an STO Exchange Infrastructure Provider. Apart from the official STO exchange to be operated by the Korea Exchange (KRX), it is highly likely that multiple unlisted STO trading platforms operated by securities firms will emerge. LG CNS holds references for building next-generation systems for major securities firms such as Korea Investment & Securities, NH Investment & Securities, and Mirae Asset Securities, and is entering the STO trading infrastructure business based on these.
The second is as an infrastructure solution used for the issuance itself. It provides an issuance platform in the form of SaaS (Software as a Service) needed by real estate companies, asset management firms, and content companies when issuing tokens. This is a solution that bundles blockchain infrastructure + KYC + settlement + compliance into one package, with a revenue model based on fees per issuance.
The Combination of Stablecoins and STOs
KRW-pegged stablecoins are the most suitable candidates as payment methods for the STO market. In a blockchain environment where token trading is possible 24/7, synergies are generated when the buyer's payment method to the seller is also on the same blockchain. General KRW bank transfers have limitations at night and on holidays, and settlement takes time. KRW stablecoins are a payment method that resolves these limitations, and the market is naturally combining the two.
In this combined structure, LG CNS's position is clear. If the same company operates both stablecoin issuance infrastructure and STO trading infrastructure, friction between the two markets disappears. A structure where the issuer, exchange, payment infrastructure, and KYC system operate on a single provider's integrated solution is rare even in the global market.
Chapter 7
Physical AI and EXAONE — The Second Engine
LG CNS does not have just one future growth driver. In its January 2026 conference call, the company used the term "dual engines." One engine is the digital currency infrastructure of stablecoins, CBDC, and STOs, and the other engine is the AI and robotics domain represented by Physical AI and EXAONE.
Physical AI: A New Category
Physical AI is an industrial category that emerged alongside NVIDIA's Cosmos World Foundation Model, announced at CES in January 2025. Cosmos is an AI model that has learned the physical laws, space, and movements of the real world, serving as the foundation for AI operating in robotics, autonomous driving, drones, and industrial automation. At the same time, NVIDIA announced Project GR00T, a platform that enables humanoid robots to learn human movements and perform actual tasks.
There are three areas where revenue is generated in this new category. First is the chips and the models themselves (the area taken by NVIDIA), second is the humanoid robots themselves (Tesla, Figure AI, Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics), and third is the operation layer that integrates those chips, models, and robots into actual industrial sites. LG CNS is entering the third area. It is a provider that builds the entire SI, data, and operating system required to integrate a humanoid robot into a Korean manufacturing plant or logistics center.
The Significance of the Physical Works Trademark Application
The "Physical Works" trademark application, exclusively reported by a media outlet on May 27, 2026, is a signal that LG CNS is explicitly stepping into this new category. The company has invested in SkildAI, an AI robotics startup, and is currently conducting humanoid robot PoCs at various sites.
The actual revenue recognition point for Physical AI is estimated to be after 2027. The PoC phase will likely last 1–2 years, and full-scale commercial revenue is likely to begin around 2028. Therefore, the market's enthusiasm for the Physical Works trademark application on May 27 was not a bet on immediate revenue, but rather the market's answer to _"Which Korean IT service company will take the operation layer of the new market opened by NVIDIA's Cosmos and GR00T?"_It was the moment the market confirmed that the answer is LG CNS.
EXAONE — Korean Sovereign AI
EXAONE is a Large Language Model developed by LG AI Research. Since its announcement in 2024, it has been gradually upgraded to become a model with approximately 100B–300B parameters as of 2026. It does not compete directly with global models like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, but defines its own market through two differentiators: Korean language proficiency and Sovereign AI.
| Category | EXAONE | ChatGPT | Claude | Gemini |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Publisher | LG AI Research | OpenAI | Anthropic | |
| Korean Specialization | ★★★★★ | ★★★ | ★★★ | ★★★ |
| Korean Data Sovereignty | ★★★★★ | ★ | ★ | ★ |
| Corporate Integration Consulting | ★★★★★(LG CNS) | ★★ | ★★ | ★★★ |
| Global Inference Performance | ★★★ | ★★★★★ | ★★★★★ | ★★★★★ |
| Key Customers | Korean Manufacturing, Finance, Public | Global | Global/Enterprise | Global |
LG CNS's core strength is not EXAONE itself, but its SI capability to integrate EXAONE into the IT environments of Korean companies. The company stated that EXAONE contributed to orders worth KRW 1 trillion, and a media outlet evaluated this as "proving that AI really makes money." The strategy is not to compete head-on with global models, but to generate revenue as a complement that is deeply integrated into the IT environments of Korean companies.
The Combination of Robots and AI
LG CNS's Physical AI strategy holds the greatest significance when combined with EXAONE. When an environment is created where humanoid robots in Korean manufacturing plants receive commands in Korean, understand Korean sentiment and context, and perform tasks according to Korean industrial standards, this becomes an area that cannot be replaced by global models. In this area, LG CNS becomes an integrated provider connecting SkildAI, NVIDIA, LG Electronics (robots), and LG Energy Solution (factories).
Chapter 8
AI Data Centers and Southeast Asian Expansion
LG CNS's data center business is not simple construction, but a DBO (Design-Build-Operate) model that handles design, construction, and operation in a lump sum. This model has a fundamentally different margin structure and is the key variable that classifies LG CNS not as a Korean IT service company, but as an infrastructure operator.
Samsong Data Center — Single order of KRW 780 billion
The data center located in Samsong, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, is a DBO project worth KRW 780 billion announced in April 2026. It is a structure where LG CNS is responsible for all design, construction, and operation, not just as a contractor. Once it enters the operation phase after 2028, it is expected to generate stable operating revenue of approximately KRW 80–120 billion annually. It is a model where a single order creates a stable revenue source for the next 10–15 years.
Indonesian AI Data Center — First Southeast Asian entry by a Korean IT company
The Indonesian AI data center, the first order won by a domestic IT company, is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026. This is not just an overseas order, but a signal that the Korean IT service industry is entering the Southeast Asian market in earnest. Cloud and AI demand in the Southeast Asian market is a key region where global big tech (AWS, Azure, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) is expanding data center capacity, and the fact that a Korean IT company has entered this market signifies the potential for future territorial expansion.
| Country | 2026–2030 Expected AI DC Market Size | LG CNS Entry Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Korea | Approx. USD 1.89 billion (2030) | Samsong + additional orders (room for 15–20% share) |
| Indonesia | Approx. USD 1.2 billion (2030) | First entry, potential for additional orders after 2026 completion |
| Vietnam | Approx. USD 800 million (2030) | Reviewing entry based on Indonesia references |
| Malaysia | Approx. USD 600 million (2030) | Long-term review subject |
| Japan | Approx. USD 2.5 billion (2030) | Strong competition from local operators (NTT, KDDI), difficult to enter |
Revenue Structure of the DBO Model
The DBO model has a different revenue structure than general data center construction. First, about 10% of total revenue is recognized at the design stage. Second, about 60% is recognized at the construction stage. Third, the most important 30% is recognized annually in installments during the operation stage. Since the operation stage typically lasts 10–15 years, a single order generates stable, long-term revenue.
LG CNS's data center business is significant because this operation stage revenue accumulates over the next 5–10 years. It is a structure where, rather than one-off orders, long-term revenue assets are embedded in the company's financials, providing stable margins and predictable cash flow. Markets typically assign higher multiples to businesses with this structure.
Chapter 9
1Q26 Performance — A Dual Structure Within Strong Results
LG CNS's 1Q26 performance was superficially very strong: revenue of KRW 1.315 trillion and an operating profit growth of +19.4%. However, looking inside the business, success and sluggishness coexist within the same company.
1Q26 Performance Overview
| Metric | 1Q26 | YoY | QoQ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | KRW 1.315 trillion | +8.6% | -3.2% |
| Operating Profit | Approx. KRW 115 billion | +19.4% | +5.8% |
| Operating Profit Margin | 8.7% | +0.8%p | +0.7%p |
| Net Income | Approx. KRW 85 billion | +22.1% | +6.4% |
Analysis by Business Unit — Coexistence of Success and Sluggishness
| Business Unit | 1Q26 Revenue | YoY Growth Rate | Proportion | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AX (AI) | Approx. KRW 290 billion | +15% | 22% | Double-digit growth in AX, the core of new growth |
| Cloud | Approx. KRW 475 billion | +6.7% | 36% | Single-digit growth, lower than market expectations |
| SI | Approx. KRW 390 billion | +5% | 30% | Traditional business, stable growth |
| DC + Other | Approx. KRW 160 billion | +18% | 12% | Samsong order effect begins to be reflected |
The surface-level +8.6% revenue growth and +19.4% operating profit growth are clearly strong results. However, looking inside the business, two areas of sluggishness are revealed. First, the growth rate of the cloud segment, which accounts for 36% of revenue, remains in the single digits at +6.7%. The double-digit growth acceleration expected by the market has not yet appeared. Second, the company's own guidance is also conservative at "5–7% annual growth target."
In other words, the core drivers of 1Q26 performance came from the following two areas: First, the +15% growth of the AX (AI) segment, which is evidence that the full-scale recognition of EXAONE-based solution revenue has begun. Second, the +18% growth of the DC segment, which is the result of some of the Samsong data center order effects being reflected in the first quarter. The basis for the market raising LG CNS's multiple in May is the expectation for the acceleration of these two, and the single-digit growth of the cloud segment is insufficient to support those expectations.
Changes in Margin Structure
The increase in operating profit margin from 7.2% (2025) to 8.7% (1Q26) comes not from simple cost-cutting but from changes in the business mix. The AX segment has an operating profit margin of approximately 15%, and the DC segment about 12%, which are higher than other business units. As the revenue share of these two units expands, the company-wide margin naturally rises. If this change in margin structure continues, the annual operating profit margin for 2026 is likely to reach around the 9% level.
Cash Flow and Use of IPO Funds
Following the IPO in February 2025, approximately KRW 1.0 trillion in new funds flowed in, and the company's cash and short-term financial assets reached approximately KRW 1.54 trillion. The direction of the use of these funds is a key variable for future multiple revaluation. Immediately after the IPO, the company announced in a conference call that it would invest in four major areas: AI, cloud, robots, and stablecoins. Specifically, equity investments in AI robotics startups like SkildAI, cloud capacity expansion, and entry into global AI data centers were named as priorities.
Current Valuation Position
| Metric | Value | 5-Year Average (Peer) | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forward PER | 16.94x | Approx. 12–15x | Approx. +12%~+41% premium over peers |
| Forward EV/EBITDA | Approx. 11x | Approx. 8–9x | Approx. +22%~+38% premium |
| PSR (Market Cap/Revenue) | Approx. 1.5x | Approx. 1.0–1.2x | Approx. +25%~+50% premium |
| Dividend Yield | Approx. 1.2% | Approx. 2.0% | Low dividend |
Currently, LG CNS's multiple is receiving a premium of approximately 12–50% compared to Korean IT service peers (Samsung SDS, SK C&C, POSCO DX, etc.). Justifying this premium is its preemptive advantage in the four new growth areas of CBDC, stablecoins, STOs, and Physical AI. For the market to maintain this premium, at least one of the three—policy passage, expansion of external orders, or acceleration of revenue growth—must be visualized within the next 12 months.
Chapter 10
68% Captive — Strength or Weakness?
The biggest structural debate surrounding LG CNS is the proportion of internal group transactions (captive). This figure, which surged by 9 percentage points from 59% in 2023 to 68% in 2024, is interpreted as a discount factor by the bearish camp and as a stable backlog by the bullish camp.
Reality of the Captive Structure
| Group Affiliate | 2025 Revenue (KRW 100M) | Share of Total Revenue | Main Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG Chem | Approx. 5,051 | Approx. 9.0% | ERP·SCM·Smart Factory·R&D System |
| LG Electronics | Approx. 4,589 | Approx. 8.1% | Global IT·Logistics·CRM·AI Analytics |
| LG Uplus | Approx. 1,254 | Approx. 2.2% | Network Operations·Customer Systems |
| LG Energy Solution | Approx. 4,200 | Approx. 7.5% | Manufacturing IT·MES·Quality Analysis·Overseas Plant Integration |
| LG Display | Approx. 2,800 | Approx. 5.0% | Manufacturing SI·Inspection Systems |
| Other LG Affiliates | Approx. 9,300 | Approx. 16.5% | Holding Co.·Household & Health Care·Innotek, etc. |
| Group Total | Approx. 27,194 | Approx. 48.3% (50.9% including related parties) | |
| External Clients | Approx. 29,000 | Approx. 51.7% | Finance·Public·Private Sector |
The Bearish Perspective
For the bearish camp, a 68% captive ratio (based on related parties) represents three discount factors. First, limited margins. Group orders have less pricing power compared to external orders, and margins are typically 1–3 percentage points lower. Second, risk of group dependency. If the performance of LG Chem, LG Electronics, or LG Energy Solution falters, LG CNS falters as well. Third, difficulty in assessing competitiveness. It is difficult to verify whether a company relying on the stability of group orders possesses true competitiveness in the external market.
The company has also acknowledged these limitations. In its January 2026 conference call, it explicitly stated, "We will focus on expanding the proportion of non-group business," and presented external orders in AI, humanoids, and stablecoins as its core growth strategy.
The Bullish Perspective
Conversely, the bullish camp views the captive business as "a stable backlog for global expansion". LG Electronics, LG Chem, and LG Energy Solution are all group companies expanding globally, and LG CNS's IT infrastructure follows them wherever they build new plants or offices overseas. Whether it's LG Energy Solution's plants in the US and Europe, LG Electronics' operations in Vietnam and India, or LG Chem's expansion into Southeast Asia — LG CNS generates revenue automatically in all these locations.
Furthermore, group orders serve as references that act as stepping stones for external orders. The experience of building LG Electronics' global IT system is directly leveraged to secure contracts with other global companies, and the experience in building smart factory systems for LG Chem leads to similar project wins from POSCO, Hyundai Steel, and Samsung SDI.
Will CBDC and Stablecoins Resolve the Captive Discount?
Revenue from CBDC, stablecoin, and STO businesses is all external. The Bank of Korea is not an LG affiliate, and none of the 7 major commercial banks are LG affiliates. Demand for STO exchange infrastructure comes from external securities firms such as Korea Investment & Securities and NH Investment & Securities. If the revenue from these businesses grows to the 200–500 billion KRW range between 2027 and 2030, as projected by Dotori, LG CNS's external revenue share will naturally rise from its current ~52% to over 60%. This is a scenario where the captive discount is resolved by more than half.
Turning point. Once the external revenue share surpasses 60%, the market is highly likely to begin reclassifying LG CNS from an "LG Group IT subsidiary" to an "independent financial infrastructure operator." That moment is the most probable trigger for a multiple jump.
Chapter 11
Competitors — Samsung SDS, Kakao, Naver, Dunamu
The market LG CNS is targeting is difficult for any single company to monopolize. Whether it's Korean cloud MSP, AI solutions, data centers, stablecoin infrastructure, or STO trading systems, each area has strong competitors. However, LG CNS is the only operator in Korea attempting to integrate and operate all five areas.
Korean Cloud MSP Market — 4-Way Competition
| Rank | Company | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Samsung SDS | Overwhelming group IT scale, proprietary cloud infrastructure, global footprint | Slow external order expansion, no CBDC participation |
| 2nd | LG CNS | Financial/Manufacturing SI + AIDC DBO + EXAONE + Sole BOK CBDC operator | 68% group captive, single-digit cloud growth rate |
| 3rd | Megazone | AWS's largest partner in Korea, cloud expertise | No group backlog, weak proprietary infrastructure |
| 4th | SK C&C | SK Telecom/SK Hynix group backlog | Weak AI DC capacity, no CBDC participation |
| 5th and below | Hyundai AutoEver·POSCO DX·Lotte Data Communication | SI specialized for each group | Low general market share |
Stablecoin Infrastructure Market — Multiple Entry Potential
| Potential Competitor | Strengths | Potential for Korea Stablecoin Market Entry |
|---|---|---|
| LG CNS | Sole BOK CBDC operator + relationships with 7 commercial banks | ★★★★★ (Absolute first-mover advantage) |
| Samsung SDS | #1 in group IT, blockchain technical expertise (Nexledger) | ★★★ (Late start due to no BOK CBDC participation) |
| Naver (LINE Next) | Operating experience with Finschia/LINE Blockchain, globally focused | ★★ (Weak relationships with Korean banking sector) |
| Kakao (Klaytn) | Largest blockchain in Korea, Kakao Pay | ★★★ (Business reorganization after Klaytn integration) |
| Dunamu (Upbit) | #1 virtual asset exchange | ★★ (Trading infrastructure rather than issuance) |
| Internal Bank IT | KB·Shinhan·Woori·Hana internal IT departments | ★ (Practice of using external IT providers) |
In the short term (2026–2027), LG CNS's first-mover advantage is almost absolute. The fact that it was chosen as the sole operator by the Bank of Korea and already has system integration relationships with the 7 major commercial banks creates a moat that is difficult for any other company to overcome within a year.
However, after the market fully forms (post-2028), Samsung SDS, Kakao, and Naver may partially enter and share the market. Samsung SDS, in particular, as the top group IT player with its own blockchain platform (Nexledger), has the resources and capability to chase quickly once policies are passed. Kakao has operated token issuance infrastructure through Klaytn (now integrated as Kaia) and possesses a large-scale payment infrastructure, Kakao Pay, making it a strong competitor in the payment domain.
STO Market — A New Competitive Landscape
In the STO trading infrastructure market, the Korea Exchange (KRX) is expected to operate an official exchange, and it is highly likely that multiple non-listed STO trading platforms operated by securities firms will emerge. LG CNS has a favorable position in the securities STO infrastructure business, given its references in building next-generation systems for Korea Investment & Securities, NH Investment & Securities, and Mirae Asset Securities. However, since Koscom is likely to operate the official KRX exchange infrastructure, a bifurcated market structure is expected to form.
Physical AI Market — Undefined Competitors
Physical AI is an area where the market itself has not yet formed. Globally, NVIDIA, Tesla, Figure AI, and Agility Robotics have established themselves, but the operators targeting the operation layer of this market in Korea have not yet been clearly defined. LG CNS's trademark application for 'Physical Works' is a move to stake its claim, and within the next 1–2 years, Samsung SDS, Hyundai AutoEver, and LG Electronics itself are likely to emerge as competing candidates.
Chapter 12
Where Four Perspectives Meet
Four analysts looking at the same stock have reached exactly different conclusions. Onion says Strong Buy, Dotori says Buy on Dips, Peanut says Partial Trim, and Carrot says Wait for Split Buy. However, just because the conclusions differ does not mean there is no consensus.
🧅 Onion — Six macro strands gathered in one stock
Onion views LG CNS as a powerful leader in the current macro phase. Onion's analysis is that six macro strands are simultaneously converging on this one stock. First, the Korean government's special semiconductor act and 4.6 trillion KRW in policy financing provide policy momentum across AI infrastructure. Second, the explosive demand for AI data centers from global big tech is flowing into Korea. Third, the "One LG" alliance is a stepping stone for global territorial expansion. Fourth, the ultra-high KRW/USD exchange rate in the 1,500 range maximizes the KRW-converted profits from overseas data center revenue. Fifth, with macro volatility ahead of the May 30th PCE announcement, capital is flocking to stocks with high visibility. The sixth and most decisive strand is the preemptive move into KRW stablecoin infrastructure.
🧅 Onion's Take
"The BOK CBDC and the government's Digital Asset Basic Act are a double blessing for the same company. The first is revenue already secured (Project Hangang), and the second is revenue to be secured soon (stablecoin issuance consortium). Added to that is the triple synergy of token securities. It is a misjudgment to wait for a deep -15% correction on a stock that has seen 18 consecutive days of foreign net buying. Phase 0 immediate buy + Phase 1 split buy at 88K~92K is the answer. I see a 12-month bullish target of 165,000~175,000 KRW, 24-month 210,000~240,000 KRW, and 36-month 250,000~290,000 KRW."
🌰 Dotori — Revenue recognition timing determines everything
While Dotori acknowledges the industrial significance, it is more cautious than Onion regarding the timing of revenue recognition. Even if policies are passed, it takes phased time for them to be reflected in LG CNS's actual revenue.
| Phase | Details | Expected Timing | Revenue Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | BOK CBDC advancement revenue (already in progress) | 1H 2026 | Approx. 5–8 billion KRW |
| Phase 2 | Digital Asset Basic Act passed by National Assembly | 2H 2026 ~ 1H 2027 | No direct revenue, signal of market formation |
| Phase 3 | Bank consortium stablecoin issuance platform construction | 1H 2027 ~ 2028 | Approx. 200–350 billion KRW |
| Phase 4 | Expansion of STO exchange/securities infrastructure | 2028~2030 | Approx. 300–500 billion KRW |
🌰 Dotori's Take
"CBDC/stablecoins are a massive industrial ladder, but revenue recognition for LG CNS is phased. Split buying at 84,000~88,000 KRW is the safety margin. I see a 12-month fair value of 140,000~155,000 KRW and 24-month fair value of 195,000+ KRW. Triggers: ① First paid customer for Physical Works ② Additional external AIDC orders ③ Government data center power/tax package ④ Digital Asset Basic Act passed by Political Affairs Committee ⑤ Bank consortium stablecoin operator selection. If two or more of these five triggers are met, increase position by one step."
🥜 Peanut — Between the captive trap and policy betting
Peanut's bearish thesis starts from five points. First, short-term overheating, exceeding the consensus average target price of 87,750 KRW by 7.8%. Second, the unresolved structural discount of a 68% captive ratio. Third, single-digit growth (+6.7%) in the AI/Cloud sector. Fourth, uncertainty in the revenue recognition timing for Physical AI (2027~2028). Fifth, two traps: the timing of policy passage and the confirmation of the issuing entity.
🥜 Peanut's Take
"I acknowledge the CBDC/stablecoin fundamentals. However, policy betting has two traps: timing and entity. For holders with an average price of 91,000 KRW, 15% immediate trim + additional 15% if it breaks 84,000 KRW. New entrants, absolutely no chasing. Bearish scenario: 82,000 KRW (PER 16x) upon PER normalization, worst case 72,000 KRW (PER 14x)."
🥕 Carrot — Policy news compresses chart time
Carrot looks at one additional factor from the perspective of charts and sentiment. Stocks where policy momentum is known to the market typically see higher short-term volatility, and every single schedule of the Digital Asset Basic Act in the Political Affairs Committee directly affects LG CNS's chart.
🥕 Carrot's Take
"The difference between May 14th and May 27th lies in the upper wick. 12.8% vs 1.2%. Where the closing price is within the intraday range determines the truth between selling and buying. However, May 14th also closed with a bullish candle and then plummeted -16% the next day. The surge in trading volume is not a confirmation of buying, but a confirmation of volatility. 1st: 86,000~88,000 KRW (30%), 2nd: 82,000~83,500 KRW (40%), 3rd: 78,000~80,000 KRW (30%). Stop loss 79,606 KRW (50-day moving average). If a policy trigger occurs, move up the 1st price range by one step."
Where the four perspectives nodded in agreement
- No chase buying at the current price of 94,600 KRW (Unanimous or partial agreement among the four)
- The charts for May 14th and May 27th are qualitatively different — May 27th is healthier
- Entry into Physical AI is an industrially significant event, but revenue recognition timing is post-2027
- The complete resolution of the Macquarie overhang is a key background for the May 27th surge
- The Indonesian AI data center contract is a milestone in Southeast Asian territorial expansion
- The very fact of being a BOK CBDC operator is a fundamental differentiator from other IT companies
Where the four people ultimately parted ways
- Possibility of a multiple jump: Onion (20~25x jump, Bull 120K+) vs. Peanut (Policy betting trap, multiple normalization)
- Revenue recognition timing: Onion (price reflected immediately) vs. Acorn (in full swing 2027~2028) vs. Peanut (post-2028, and even that is uncertain)
- Interpretation of 68% captive: Onion (global backlog) vs. Peanut (structural discount)
- Buy price range: Onion 91~93K / Acorn 84~88K / Carrot 86~88K / Peanut - refuse to buy
Chapter 13
Is the target buy price reachable? — The truth about charts and supply/demand
Buying cheap is a good thing, but if the market never hits that price, the buying manual is just numbers on paper. What is the actual likelihood of LG CNS, with its May 27 closing price of 94,600 KRW, falling to 86,000 KRW, 82,000 KRW, or 78,000 KRW? To answer this question, we must look at charts and supply/demand together.
Distance from current price to buy price
| Buy target price | Relative to current price | Moving average position | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| 88,000 KRW | -7.0% | Near 5-day line (86,900) | General short-term correction |
| 84,000 KRW | -11.2% | Near 20-day line (83,810) | Mid-term correction, upon momentum weakening |
| 80,000 KRW | -15.4% | Near 50-day line (79,606) | In case of major negative shock |
| 74,000 KRW | -21.8% | Near 120-day line | Full delay of policy passage + macro shock |
Supply & Demand — The significance of 18 consecutive days of foreign net buying
The most decisive supply/demand signal is the fact that foreigners have been net buying for 18 consecutive trading days in LG CNS. Foreign net buying continued on almost every trading day from early May to May 27, and the market read this as a signal that "long-term capital is entering." On May 12, there was simultaneous net buying of +330,332 shares by foreigners and +243,967 shares by institutions, and it is estimated that foreign buying dominance was maintained even on the surge day of May 27.
Statistically, it is not easy for a stock with 18 consecutive days of foreign buying to fall into a deep -15% correction. Foreigners typically enter with a position build-up (cumulative buying) strategy rather than one-off trades, and no significant sell-wall is formed until that cumulative buying is finished. This makes the probability of reaching the LG CNS buy price different from other general stocks.
Chart technical position — Meaning of the perfect alignment (aligned moving averages)
| Moving average | Current position | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 5-day line | Approx. 86,900 KRW | Short-term resistance, usually reverts within 1 week |
| 20-day line | Approx. 83,810 KRW | Mid-term trend line, reverts upon negative trigger |
| 50-day line | Approx. 79,606 KRW | Mid-to-long-term trend line, trend reversal signal line |
| 120-day line | Approx. 75,000 KRW (estimated) | Long-term trend line, rarely touched |
Currently, the LG CNS chart is in a perfect alignment where the 5-day, 20-day, and 50-day lines all have positive slopes. In a perfect alignment state, the price typically shows a pattern of rising again after a correction to the 5-day or 20-day line. A deep correction to the 50-day line is a stage where the perfect alignment is temporarily broken, which occurs when a negative shock accompanies one of policy, earnings, or macro factors.
Buy price reach probability matrix (1-month time frame)
| Buy price | Probability | Reach trigger | Estimated time to reach |
|---|---|---|---|
| 88,000~92,000 KRW | Approx. 55% | General short-term profit taking, 5/30 PCE hawkish + 100K round number resistance | Within 1~2 weeks |
| 84,000~87,000 KRW | Approx. 30% | Temporary pause in foreign buying flow + Political Affairs Committee delay in June | Within 2~4 weeks |
| 80,000~83,000 KRW | Approx. 15% | Major delay in Digital Asset Act passage + Foreigner cumulative net selling conversion | Within 4~8 weeks |
| 74,000~79,000 KRW | Approx. 8% | Total policy retreat + macro shock (major PCE surprise) | Within 2~3 months |
Key finding. Combining the three variables of 18 consecutive days of foreign buying, perfect alignment chart, and imminent policy passage, the probability of a deep correction below 80,000 KRW is less than about 15%. The buying manual concludes that it is not "if you wait, it will surely come," but rather "it is more likely that it will not come, so you should actively proceed with the first buy entry at a price close to the current price."
Realistic readjustment of the buying manual
The buying manual reflecting the analysis above is as follows. The new manual, which reflects the three variables of 18 days of foreign buying, a perfect alignment chart, and imminent policy, is more proactive.
📐 4-step buying manual for new entrants (reflecting supply/demand)
| Step | Price range | Weight | Trigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Step 0 (Immediate) | Current price 94,000~96,000 KRW | 20% | Foreign buying flow valid + policy passage imminent, avoid opportunity cost |
| Step 1 (Wait) | 88,000~92,000 KRW | 30% | 5-day line reversion, general short-term correction |
| Step 2 (Wait) | 84,000~87,000 KRW | 30% | Near 20-day line, Political Affairs Committee delay in June + temporary pause in foreign buying |
| Step 3 (Conditional) | 80,000~83,000 KRW | 20% | Near 50-day line, upon occurrence of major negative trigger |
Target average entry price approx. 87,000 KRW. Stop loss: Re-examine remainder if closing price breaks 79,606 KRW (50-day line). If momentum accelerates (breakout above 100,500 KRW closing + 2x average volume), increase Step 0 weight from 20% to 25%.
Why was Step 0 (immediate buy) added? 18 consecutive days of foreign buying is not just a simple short-term momentum, but a signal of long-term capital position build-up. Within the same signal, the risk of missing the buy point forever while waiting for a deep -15% correction is greater than the risk of taking a -5% loss at an 87,000 KRW average. The 20% in Step 0 is insurance buying to manage opportunity costs.
Chapter 14
Target price by period — Coordinates drawn on the performance model
LG CNS's target price should not be drawn solely on a simple consensus average. For a company with huge variables such as being the sole operator of Korea's digital currency infrastructure, a 300 trillion KRW KRW stablecoin market, and a 367 trillion KRW STO market, the target price should be drawn on coordinates by period that reflect the phased growth of sales and profits.
Performance model — 2025 to 2030
| Year | Revenue (trillion KRW) | YoY | Operating profit (100 million KRW) | OPM | EPS (KRW) | Key driver |

The key assumptions of this performance model are as follows. First, stablecoin phase 1 revenue begins to be recognized from 2027 (approx. 200~350 billion KRW). Second, STO infrastructure revenue is added from 2028. Third, the operating profit margin rises by about 0.5~1.0 percentage points each year due to changes in business mix (current 7.2% → 10.3% in 2030). Fourth, physical AI (Physical Works) revenue begins to be recognized in earnest from 2029.

In the Bull scenario, +93% in 12 months and +216% in 36 months are possible. Even in the Bear scenario, it enters positive territory after 6 months. These figures are not just based on a simple consensus average, but are the result of reflecting the sole operator position in the Korean digital currency infrastructure market (300 trillion KRW for KRW stablecoin, 367 trillion KRW for STO) in the revenue model.

Buying Decision Flow
Routine check every Sunday evening (example).
- Check the 10 monitoring dashboard items sequentially. Check if any thresholds have been crossed.
- Verify weekly price position. Check for entry into the 86,000~88,000 KRW range and whether it breaks below the 50-day moving average of 79,606 KRW.
- Threshold crossed + Price entry → Execute 1st or 2nd buying manual.
- Threshold crossed + Chase price (above 95,000 KRW) → Only chase 25% if closing price is 100,500 KRW + volume is 2x average.
- Break below 50-day MA + Policy trigger not met → Stop-loss remaining shares.
Epilogue
A Company Standing on the Timetable of Policy
This company's price is no longer mapped solely by quarterly earnings. The government's legislative schedule, the Bank of Korea's commercialization decisions, and the selection of the market's first issuers—these schedules create the new coordinates.
Although LG CNS is a newly listed company as of February 2025, the business contained within is far from light. It is the 2nd largest Cloud MSP in Korea, the core of LG Group's digital transformation, the first Korean firm to win an overseas AI data center contract in Indonesia, the first Korean IT service company to enter the new industrial category of Physical AI, and above all, the infrastructure builder for the CBDC exclusively commissioned by the Bank of Korea.
The market compressed all of this into a single chart on May 27. A +13.8% bullish candle from an opening price of 83,100 KRW to a closing price of 94,600 KRW, 1.2% upper wick, closing at the 93% percentile of the intraday range. Those who saw the surface of this chart might have thought of simple momentum buying, but those who looked inside read the fact that the policy timetable had begun to be priced in.
'Onion' sees the furthest potential for a multiple jump. Its perspective, which sets the upper bound of the Bull scenario at over 120,000 KRW, is based on the logic that LG CNS's multiple will jump once the market reclassifies it from a simple IT service company to a 'financial infrastructure operator.' 'Acorn' holds that the jump happens in stages. Phase 1 CBDC advancement is already underway, Phase 2 policy passage is 2H 2026 to 1H 2027, Phase 3 full-scale stablecoin revenue is 2027~2028, and Phase 4 STO proliferation is after 2028. 'Peanut' believes there are two traps in that phased scenario: the possibility of delays in policy passage and uncertainty regarding the determination of issuers. 'Carrot' directly reflects in the chart the fact that policy news compresses the time of the chart. A single event, such as a committee passage, can generate a week's worth of buying in a single day.
However, there is one fact on which all four perspectives clearly agree: We buy. And the answer to buying is not just price, but entry price. As the entry price is lowered toward the 87,000 KRW average, losses in the Bear scenario are limited to single digits, while in the Base scenario, upside of +70% in 12 months, +124% in 24 months, and +170% in 36 months opens up. In the Bull scenario, up to +216% in 36 months is possible. As long as the flow of 18 consecutive trading days of foreign buying remains alive, waiting only for a deep -15% correction is a strategy that misses the biggest opportunity.
Let's make one more thing clear. LG CNS is no longer just an IT service company. It is a company currently building Korea's digital currency infrastructure, and the moment the new government's Digital Asset Basic Act passes, it becomes a candidate for a global multiple jump. However, until that jump actually happens, it must pass three variables: policy, competitors, and technology. The price is set by how much it passes, and normalized by how much it fails.
So the answer is simple. Buy some immediately at Phase 0, add on corrections to the 5-day and 20-day moving averages, and add more in portions if it drops to the 50-day moving average. And increase the weight step-by-step at each stage of policy. The Bank of Korea's decisions, the committee's schedule, the announcement of operator selection — at each stage, the market will draw new coordinates, and as those coordinates become clearer, the weight will increase one step at a time. 3 months 100~110K, 6 months 115~130K, 12 months 140~155K, 24 months 180~210K, 36 months 215~250K. These coordinates are not drawn above the consensus average, but on the earnings model of Korea's sole digital currency infrastructure operator. A buyer is someone who buys time, not price. Time tells the price.
"This company's price is not defined by the chart,
it follows the timetable of policy."
