Prologue
The point of two consecutive monthly drops
The two stocks belong to different industries, but they fell by the exact same margin (-16%) over the same month. This coincidence is not accidental.
May 28, 2026. Two large-cap cyclical stocks in the Korean market have arrived at the same spot. Samsung Heavy Industries is at 28,750 KRW, and Doosan Enerbility is at 106,800 KRW. Both stocks fell by approximately -18% to -23% from their 3-month highs, and then dropped exactly -16% more over the last month. One is shipbuilding, the other is nuclear power. While the industries and cycles are different, the fact that both fell by the exact same margin in one month is no coincidence.
This report makes one thing clear on the first page: Both stocks stand on two legs of the same macro cycle. The explosion in AI data center power demand, environmental mandates, the US-Iran ceasefire, the 1,500 KRW/USD exchange rate, and the Korean government's industrial policy. These five variables flow into LNG carrier and FLNG orders for one company, and SMR and gas turbine orders for the other. The fact that both companies corrected by the same amount over the month is a sign that market confidence in these five variables has momentarily shaken. And the moment that confidence recovers, they will move together again.
"One person bought shipbuilding, another bought nuclear power.
But both have bought two faces of the same cycle."
The levels of 28,950 KRW and 107,300 KRW on May 28 are precisely near the knees of that correction. Out of the four perspectives, two (macro and industry) evaluated this as a "reasonable entry zone at the start of a big cycle," one (fundamentals) warned of "de-rating starting at the cycle peak," and one (chart) diagnosed it as the "right shoulder of a double bottom, where time-division is the only answer." Between these conflicting views, this report derives a consensus buy/sell manual.
Chapter 1
Why both stocks are at the same coordinates
It is rare for two stocks in different industries to correct by the exact same amount in one month. It means they share the same market doubt. That doubt is named "cycle peak concern."

What was lost during the month
The price action of both stocks from May 14 to May 28 is intriguing. Starting from 30,150 KRW for Samsung Heavy Industries and 117,100 KRW for Doosan Enerbility on May 14, both stocks hit their 1-month lows on the same day, May 20, at 27,650 KRW and 101,300 KRW, respectively. They attempted a rebound simultaneously, and on May 28, they were hit with intraday selling pressure of -2.3% and -1.6% at the same time. The two charts look almost identical.
This synchronization is a sign that both stocks share the same market doubt. That doubt is that "while the long-term cycle is alive, the peak of the short-term order cycle has passed." The fact that the Newbuilding Price Index is hovering near an all-time high and that it will take 2-3 years for SMR revenue to be fully recognized is the basis for the market's short-term discount.
The essential difference between the two stocks
However, their fundamentals are critically different. Samsung Heavy Industries' Forward PER of 16.4x is within the normal range for a cyclical company. Doosan Enerbility's Forward PER of 106.5x reflects strong expectations for future SMR and gas turbine revenue priced into the stock. In other words, even with the same -16% correction, the two stocks fell from different starting points.
Bottom line. Two companies standing on two legs of the same macro cycle corrected by the same amount, but the multiples and distance to the cycle peak embedded within them are different. Samsung Heavy Industries is at a normal multiple in the latter half of the cycle, while Doosan Enerbility has future revenue priced in at the early stage of a cycle. This difference is the critical point where the four analysts diverge.
Chapter 2
Global Shipbuilding Cycle — Samsung Heavy Industries' Position
The Korean shipbuilding industry is passing through its second super-cycle of the 2020s. Global newbuilding prices for LNG carriers have hit all-time highs, and the Korean Big 3 hold about 88% of the LNG carrier market. Among them, Samsung Heavy Industries' position is in LNG carriers, FLNG, and eco-friendly vessels.
Korean Shipbuilding Big 3 Landscape
| Category | Samsung Heavy Industries | Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering) | Hanwha Ocean |
|---|---|---|---|
| LNG Carrier Market Share | Approx. 35% | Approx. 30% | Approx. 23% |
| FLNG (Floating LNG) | Monopolistic leader | Some entry | Some entry |
| Offshore Plants | Strong | Above average | Above average |
| Eco-friendly Ships (Methanol/Ammonia) | Strong | Strong | Above average |
| Defense | Weak | Above average | Strong |
| Current Fwd PER | 16.4x | Approx. 18x | Approx. 14x |
Samsung Heavy Industries' core is its monopolistic position in LNG carriers and FLNG. In Qatar's 100-vessel LNG project, Samsung Heavy Industries secured the most orders, and in the FLNG (Floating LNG production facility) segment, it holds a de facto global monopoly. It is also in the global top tier for eco-friendly vessels (methanol/ammonia propulsion).
Current position of the LNG carrier cycle
As of May 2026, the Clarksons Newbuilding Price Index is around 190, within 1% of the all-time high (approx. 192) in 2008. This fact is the core basis for the bears (Peanut). They argue it is a "peak signal."
On the other hand, the bulls (Onion, Acorn) look at different variables. First, LNG carrier slots are fully booked through 2028-2029. Second, mandatory eco-friendly shipping (IMO 2030) is the trigger for the next large-scale order cycle. Third, FLNG is a separate cycle from LNG carriers, and new gas field developments in Mozambique, Senegal, and Africa are set to generate full-scale orders.
1Q26 Results — Good performance vs. consensus mismatch
Samsung Heavy Industries' 1Q26 earnings maintained revenue growth, but operating profit missed the market consensus by about 19.7%. This is a sign that while the fundamentals are alive, short-term margin pressure has begun. This is attributed to rising steel plate prices and cost overruns in some LNG projects.

Chapter 3
Nuclear Power·SMR Renaissance — Doosan Enerbility's Position
Nuclear power is going through its hottest cycle just before 2030. The US NRC's SMR licensing, new nuclear tenders in the Czech Republic, UAE, and Poland, and the explosion in AI data center power demand have all converged at the same time. The core Korean player in that cycle is Doosan Enerbility.
Doosan Enerbility's Business Composition
| Business Unit | Revenue Mix | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Nuclear (Large + SMR) | Approx. 32% | Domestic Shin-Hanul/Shin-Kori, exports to Czech/UAE/Poland, X-energy 16-unit material reservation |
| Gas Turbine | Approx. 18% | Domestic proprietary H-class gas turbine, AI data center power beneficiary |
| Wind Power (Offshore EPC) | Approx. 10% | Jeonnam/Southwest offshore wind |
| Casting/Forging/Power Parts | Approx. 25% | Global power plant parts supply |
| Doosan Babcock/Subsidiaries | Approx. 15% | Overseas business, some non-core |
SMR (Small Modular Reactor) — The heart of next-gen nuclear
SMRs are smaller than traditional large-scale reactors, modular, and built in factories for on-site assembly. In the US, NuScale, X-energy, Holtec, and GE-Hitachi are undergoing SMR licensing, and Doosan Enerbility acts as a key partner for NuScale and X-energy, supplying materials and components. In particular, the reservation for materials for 16 X-energy units is a key momentum for future full-scale SMR market entry.
However, actual SMR revenue recognition will start from 2027-2028. Doosan Enerbility's 2026 SMR revenue is estimated at approximately 200-300 billion KRW, which is only 1-2% of its total revenue of about 17 trillion KRW. This is the basis for the bears (Peanut) arguing that "the current stock price has already front-run 2029 SMR revenue of 2.4 trillion KRW."
AI Data Center Power Demand — Doosan's second engine
Goldman Sachs estimates that US data center power demand will double from approximately 31GW in 2025 to 66GW in 2027. Some of this power will be supplied by renewable energy, some by nuclear/SMR, and some by gas turbines. Doosan Enerbility is a player active in all three areas.
Doosan Enerbility's Consensus Price Target Distribution
| Brokerage | Target Price | vs. Current Price | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kiwoom Securities | 122,000 KRW | +14.2% | Buy |
| Mirae Asset Securities | 105,000 KRW | -1.7% | Hold |
| Korea Investment & Securities | Approx. 145,000 KRW | +35.8% | Buy |
| NH Investment & Securities | Approx. 160,000 KRW | +49.8% | Buy |
| Meritz Securities | Approx. 165,000 KRW | +54.5% | Strong Buy |
| Hana Securities | Approx. 170,000 KRW | +59.2% | Strong Buy |
| Consensus Average | Approx. 151,313 KRW | +41.7% | BUY-skewed, large variance |
The average IB consensus PT is 41.7% above the current price, but conservative views like Mirae Asset Securities are already below the current price (-1.7%). The large variance in the consensus (low of 105K to high of 170K) is a signal that the market has not yet reached a conclusion on the timing of SMR revenue recognition.
Chapter 4
AI Data Center Power Demand — The thread connecting both cycles
Samsung Heavy Industries and Doosan Enerbility are in different industries, but are connected by one macro variable. That is AI data center power demand. This single thread simultaneously affects the future 5-year revenue of both companies.
Why AI is calling for LNG carriers and SMRs at the same time
The power required for AI model training and inference is increasing astronomically. AI accelerators like the NVIDIA H100, B200, and GB200 consume 700W to 1,200W per unit, and tens of thousands are installed in a single data center. US data center power demand is estimated to jump from 31GW in 2025 to 66GW (2x jump) in 2027.
The answer to how to supply this power is the future revenue for both companies. First, LNG power. New LNG export terminals in Texas and Louisiana are generating global LNG carrier orders, with 35% of those LNG carriers flowing to Samsung Heavy Industries. Also, as LNG import dependence in Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea rises, LNG carrier slots are filling up. Second, SMR/Gas Turbines. AI data centers require 24/7 uninterrupted power, and SMRs and gas turbines are essential to compensate for the intermittency of renewable energy. Doosan Enerbility supplies both.
Revenue recognition timing for the two cycles
| Period | Samsung Heavy Industries | Doosan Enerbility |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Acceleration of LNG carrier order backlog, full-scale FLNG revenue recognition | Gas turbine orders, start of X-energy material revenue recognition |
| 2027 | Full-scale orders for eco-friendly ships (methanol/ammonia) | Start of full-scale SMR revenue recognition (hundreds of billions scale) |
| 2028 | New order cycle for LNG/eco-friendly ships just before IMO 2030 | Czech/UAE nuclear power revenue + SMR entry of 1-2 trillion KRW |
| 2029~2030 | Offshore plant cycle recovery | Full-scale SMR revenue recognition of 2.4 trillion+ KRW, AI data center gas turbine explosion |
South Korean government's policy linking the two stocks
The South Korean government's industrial policy also bundles these two stocks into the same cycle. The K-New Deal for shipbuilding, mandatory eco-friendly vessels, the nuclear power renaissance, support for nuclear exports to the Czech Republic, UAE, and Poland, and the Korea NIPA's AI semiconductor + data center infrastructure package are all connected to the revenues of both companies. This is a signal that the government is classifying both companies as key players in global infrastructure exports simultaneously.
Chapter 5
Onion's Perspective — The 'Knee' at the Start of a Big Cycle
Onion views the -16% correction in both stocks not as a breakdown of the trend, but as a waiting-to-buy opportunity at the start of a big cycle. The reference entry prices of 28,950 KRW and 107,300 KRW are the "optimal entry points below the knee" from a macro perspective.
Onion's Five Macro Pillars
Onion believes five macro variables are working favorably for both stocks simultaneously. First, the monopolistic position in high-priced LNG carriers and FLNGs due to eco-friendly mandates (Samsung Heavy Industries) remains solid. Second, the power crisis triggered by AI data centers is elevating key players in the US-bound SMR and nuclear supply chain (Doosan Enerbility). Third, even if oil prices stabilize due to the US-Iran ceasefire, demand for the transition to clean energy (LNG/nuclear) remains firm. Fourth, the government's support for nuclear sales to the Czech Republic, UAE, etc., is entering full swing. Fifth, the benefit of exploding export margins due to the KRW/USD exchange rate surpassing 1,500 KRW is a direct hit for both stocks.
🧅 Onion's Take
"I view the -16% correction at the start of the big cycle as a buying opportunity, not a trend breakdown. The monopoly on high-priced LNG carriers/FLNGs amid eco-friendly mandates, the status as a key lynchpin in the SMR/nuclear supply chain amid AI data center-driven power shortages, and the benefits of export margin explosions from a 1,500 KRW KRW/USD rate are all operating simultaneously. The short-term volatility due to hawkish PCE concerns on 5/30 is merely an opportunity to increase weight in leading cyclicals."
Onion's Target Prices — By Period
🎯 Onion's Target Prices by Period
| Time | Samsung Heavy Industries | Doosan Enerbility |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Months (2026/8) | 35,000 KRW (+21.7%) | 130,000 KRW (+21.7%) |
| 6 Months (2026/11) | 40,000 KRW (+39.1%) | 150,000 KRW (+40.4%) |
| 12 Months (2027/5) | 45,000 KRW (+56.5%) | 160,000 KRW (+49.8%) |
Final Macro Call. Buy both stocks actively on dips. 28,950 KRW and 107,300 KRW are the optimal entry points below the knee; if short-term additional declines occur due to 5/30 PCE concerns, I recommend additional fractional buying at those price levels.
Chapter 6
Acorn's Perspective — Good Entry vs. Expensive Entry
Acorn is one step more cautious than Onion. While the buy price of 28,950 KRW for Samsung Heavy Industries is "good," Acorn considers 107,300 KRW for Doosan Enerbility to be "good but expensive." The turning point between the two stocks lies in multiples and the timing of revenue recognition.
Samsung Heavy Industries — A Good Entry
Acorn believes that the purchase price of 28,950 KRW for Samsung Heavy Industries is a good entry point with an upside of +41% compared to the consensus PT average of 40,556 KRW. With the Korean shipbuilding Big 3 holding 88% of the LNG carrier market, Samsung Heavy Industries' strategy of selective order-taking for LNG, FLNG, and eco-friendly vessels protects margins.
Acorn recommends an additional buy range of 27,000~28,000 KRW. Fractional entry in this range can lower the average purchase price below 28,000 KRW. Three triggers: Announcement of the FLNG main contract, further rise in new shipbuilding prices for LNG, and 1Q margin improvement.
Doosan Enerbility — Good but Expensive
On the other hand, Doosan Enerbility is double-edged for Acorn. On one side, there are strong fundamentals like actual progress in NRC's SMR licensing, material reservations for 16 X-energy units, gas turbine orders from US Big Tech, and offshore wind EPC. The explosive demand for AI power (2025 31GW → 2027 66GW) is also a direct benefit.
On the other side, there is the heavy multiple of 106x Forward PER. While the consensus PT average of 151,313 KRW is 42% above the current price, Mirae Asset Securities has already issued a conservative opinion of 105,000 KRW, which is below the current price. Given the wide variance in consensus, the market has not yet reached a conclusion on the timing of SMR revenue recognition.
🌰 Acorn's Take
"SHI at 28,950 KRW is good. The Big 3 take 88% of LNG carriers, and China has the edge in containers, so the core for SHI is selective orders for LNG/FLNG/eco-friendly ships. Doosan at 107,300 KRW is good but expensive. NRC SMR licensing + 16 X-energy units + Big Tech gas turbines are powerful, but at 106x PER, I only recommend additional buying at 95,000~100,000 KRW. Triggers: SMR main contract, Czech/Poland/UAE equipment orders, additional gas turbine orders."
Acorn's Entry Manual.
- Samsung Heavy Industries: 1st 28,950 KRW (Base entry) / 2nd 27,000~28,000 KRW (Fractional addition) / Increase weight when triggers are met
- Doosan Enerbility: 1st 107,300 KRW (Base entry) / 2nd 95,000~100,000 KRW (Fractional addition only, be cautious with 106x PER) / Increase upon triggers
Chapter 7
Peanut's Perspective — Cycle Peak and Prices Priced with Dreams
Peanut reaches a conclusion diametrically opposed to the bullishness of Onion and Acorn. Both stocks are not buying opportunities but the beginning of a de-rating, and Doosan Enerbility, in particular, is a "stock where the dream is already baked into the price."
Samsung Heavy Industries — Signal of a Cycle Peak
Peanut considers the fact that SHI's 1Q26 operating profit missed the market consensus by 19.7% as decisive. Even Korea Investment & Securities' PT of 43,000 KRW is the result of applying a 3-year Forward PER of 20x, which is criticized as a structure that borrows the defense multiple of Hanwha Ocean. In Peanut's view, the current Forward PER of 16.4x is an expensive price based on the late-cycle standards.
Crucially, Clarksons stated that while the LNG fleet increased by 17%, LNG volume only increased by 7%, meaning spot day rates have entered negative territory. The new shipbuilding price index of 190 is within 1% of the all-time high in 2008 — this is a peak signal. The 18.6% year-on-year decrease in Korean shipbuilding orders in April foreshadows a void in the next cycle.
Doosan Enerbility — The Dream is Priced In
Peanut believes Doosan Enerbility's Forward PER of 106x is "inexcusable." 1Q26 operating profit of 233.5 billion KRW (YoY +63.9%) is a good number, but even if it maintains the 900 billion KRW range annually, the PER is 70~80x based on a market cap of 68.3 trillion KRW. SMR revenue is approximately 200~300 billion KRW in 2026, which is only 1~2% of the total revenue of about 17 trillion KRW. In this state, what 106x PER means is clear. The current stock price has already pulled forward approximately 2.4 trillion KRW in SMR revenue for 2029.
Kiwoom Securities PT of 122,000 KRW and Mirae Asset Securities PT of 105,000 KRW are the consensus centers, and the current price of 106,800 KRW has already reached the consensus PT. Multi-competition structures like X-energy, Holtec, and GE-Hitachi dilute dependence on NuScale alone.
🥜 Peanut's Take
"The 1M -16% correction is not a buying opportunity but the start of a de-rating. SHI is a signal of peak new shipbuilding prices and slowing orders, and Doosan is undergoing normalization from 200x PER to 106x. Both are not buying opportunities but recommendations to trim. 6-month bearish targets — SHI 22,000~24,000 KRW (return to 13x Fwd PER), Doosan 78,000~85,000 KRW (return to 80x PER). The side with overwhelmingly greater downside risk is Doosan. 106x PER is a structure that would drop -30~-40% on a single delay in SMR revenue recognition."
Peanut's Recommendation.
- Samsung Heavy Industries: Hold + consider 30% fractional trim (6-month bearish target 22~24K)
- Doosan Enerbility: : 50% strong trim (6-month bearish target 78~85K)
- Side with greater downside risk: Overwhelmingly Doosan Enerbility. 106x PER = -30~-40% on a single delay in SMR revenue recognition.
Chapter 8
Carrot's Perspective — Right Shoulder of a Double Bottom
Carrot looks at the charts one step away from the fundamental debate. While short-term technical indicators for both stocks are entirely bearish, Carrot diagnoses them as being in a double-bottom right-shoulder pattern, attempting a rebound from the 1-month low.
Technical Coordinates of the Two Stocks
| Indicator | Samsung Heavy Industries | Doosan Enerbility |
|---|---|---|
| RSI (14-day) | 40.88 (Bearish) | 37.96 (Oversold imminent) |
| MACD | +11.16 (Weak buy) | -199.98 (Sell) |
| Current Price vs MA200 | 28,750 vs 30,818 (-6.7%) | 106,800 vs 117,852 (-9.4%) |
| 12 MA signals | All Sell | All Sell |
| Daily Chart Overall Signal | Strong Sell | Strong Sell |
Double-Bottom Right-Shoulder Pattern
The common pattern Carrot sees in both stocks is "forming a right shoulder of a double bottom." Samsung Heavy Industries confirmed a low of 27,200 KRW on May 20 after an -18.7% correction from the 3-month high of 35,350 KRW, rebounded to 29,500 KRW on May 22 (gap up) → 30,450 KRW on May 26, but is showing a second dip to 29,450→28,750 KRW on May 27~28. The fact that volume is below the average of 6.83M at 5.66M during rebounds and decreased to 1.46M during declines is a "downward energy exhaustion type".
Doosan Enerbility had a -5.4% gap down on May 15, hit a low of 99,700 KRW on May 20 (breaking the psychological 100k barrier), and attempted a V-shaped rebound with a +12.9% gap up on May 22. However, volume is below the average of 3.95M at 2.91M, indicating a lack of rebound confidence. It is currently re-testing the 108→106 area on May 27~28, forming the right shoulder of a double bottom.
Sector Sentiment — Foreigner Trends
The decisive clue Carrot found is foreign trading trends. For Doosan Enerbility, cumulative net foreign buying from April 13 to May 12 was approximately 886.8 billion KRW, ranking 1st in KOSPI. The structural accumulation trend based on SMR/gas turbine order momentum is a sign that big hands are not pulling out despite short-term profit-taking. Samsung Heavy Industries also saw selling pressure ease after a -7.07% drop on May 12 and a net foreign sell-off of 1.26 million shares on May 19.
🥕 Carrot's Take
"The bottom is near but not yet confirmed; time-based fractional entry is the only correct answer. Both stocks are forming the right shoulder of a double bottom, but rebound confidence is weak due to insufficient volume. Patience waiting for a re-test of the 1M lows of 27,200 KRW and 99,700 KRW is chart-wise superior. Entry near 28,950/107,300 is a chase buy at the start of a rebound, which passes as a first tranche for fractional buying, but defense of the average purchase price is necessary."

Chapter 9
Consensus and Unresolved Differences
Four analysts looked at the same two stocks and reached exactly four different conclusions. Onion is actively buying, Acorn is conditionally buying, Peanut is trimming, and Carrot is waiting for fractional entry. However, different conclusions do not mean there is no consensus.
Where the Four Agreed
- Reference entry prices of 28,950/107,300 KRW are reasonable for a 1st entry (Agreed by Onion, Acorn, Carrot; only Peanut disagreed)
- Both stocks are on two legs of the same macro cycle (AI power + eco-friendly + government policy)
- Doosan Enerbility has greater downside risk (106x PER, agreed by Peanut, Acorn, Carrot)
- Immediate full-buying chase at current prices is risky (Unanimous, time-based fractional entry is the answer)
- Cumulative foreign buying structurally supports Doosan Enerbility (Discovered by Carrot, agreed by Onion, Acorn)
Where the Four Ultimately Split
- Interpretation of the 1-month -16% correction: Onion/Acorn (Big cycle knee buying opportunity) vs. Peanut (Cycle peak de-rating start)
- Evaluation of Doosan's 106x PER: Onion (Future revenue justification) vs. Acorn (Cautious) vs. Peanut (Dream baked into price)
- Evaluation of SHI's new shipbuilding price of 190: Onion (maintain trend) vs. Peanut (within 1% of 2008 peak = peak signal)
- 12-month PT: Onion 45K/160K vs. Acorn 40K/130K (consensus) vs. Peanut 24K/85K
Four Perspectives Summary Table

Chapter 10
Integrated Buy/Sell Manual
Although the four perspectives reached different conclusions, the greatest common divisor for consensus is as follows: 1st entry is reasonable, further split buying should be paced, stop-loss lines should be clear, and trimming should be done at staged price levels.

Doosan Enerbility — Integrated Manual
📐 Doosan Enerbility Integrated Split Manual (PER 106x Cautious)
| Stage | Price Range | Weight | 4-Person Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st (Completed) | 107,300 KRW | — | Reasonable entry price (Onion·Acorn·Carrot) |
| 2nd (Pending) | 104,000~105,000 KRW | 50% of 1st | 5/22 gap fill (Carrot), Acorn enters 100K cautious zone |
| 3rd (Conditional) | 97,000~100,000 KRW | 50% of 1st | 5/20 low + Acorn 95~100K additional buy zone |
| Stop-loss | Break below 97,000 KRW closing | Review remaining holdings | Decisive break below 100k, trend collapse (Carrot) |
| Trim 1st | 118,000~120,000 KRW | 30% | MA200 regression (Carrot), near Mirae Asset PT |
| Trim 2nd | 128,000~135,000 KRW | 30% | 3M high -8%, Onion 3M PT |
| Long-term remaining 40% | Hold until 150~160K | — | Onion 6~12M PT, Acorn consensus PT (151K) |
Why should Doosan's trim weight be designed larger? Both stocks share the same 30%/30%/40% trim structure, but for Doosan, the risk of Peanut's bearish scenario (PER 106 → 80x normalization → 78~85K) materializing is higher than for SHI. Therefore, it is reasonable to reduce weight quickly at Trim 1st (118K~120K) and recover more at Trim 2nd (128~135K). The remaining 40% bets on Onion's 12M PT scenario.

Epilogue
The Timetable of a Cycle
The two stocks stand on the two legs of a single cycle. If one leg stops, the other stumbles; if one leg springs forward, the other follows.
Shipbuilding and nuclear energy are different industries. One company builds LNG carriers and floating gas production units on the sea, while the other builds nuclear plants and gas turbines on land. However, in the May 2026 Korean stock market, both companies have dropped by the exact same margin and are at the exact same spot. This means they are standing on two legs of one cycle. AI data center power demand, eco-friendly mandates, US-Iran truce, 1,500 KRW/USD, and Korean government industrial policy—five variables simultaneously determine the future 5-year revenue for both companies.
Onion believes all five variables are favorable. Entry prices of 28,950 KRW and 107,300 KRW are the 'knees' at the beginning of a big cycle, recommending aggressive additional buying. Acorn agrees with the industrial significance but sees stages in the timing of revenue recognition: SHI is good, Doosan is in an expensive spot. Peanut throws a bearish opinion on both: SHI is at the cycle peak, Doosan is a stock where the dream is already priced in. Carrot sees the chart forming the right shoulder of a double bottom. Time-based splitting is the only correct answer.
Although the four perspectives reached different conclusions, they agree on one thing: The 1st entry (around 28,950 KRW·107,300 KRW) is reasonable, additional buying should be split, stop-loss lines should be clear, and trimming should be done at staged prices. For Samsung Heavy Industries, 2nd entry is 27,800~28,300 KRW, 3rd entry is 27,000~27,300 KRW, stop-loss is 26,500 KRW. For Doosan Enerbility, 2nd entry is 104,000~105,000 KRW, 3rd entry is 97,000~100,000 KRW, stop-loss is 97,000 KRW.
12-month profit/loss by scenario is as follows: SHI Bull +55%, Base +40%, Bear -24%. Doosan Enerbility Bull +49%, Base +41%, Bear -27%. If you lower the average entry price to around 28,000 KRW and 102,000 KRW through split buying, you can limit the loss to -15~-20% even in the Bear scenario, while opening an upside of +30~+50% in the Base scenario.
One company buys the sea, the other buys power. But both are on the same timetable. The purchase on May 28, 2026, is the first box on that schedule, and the next boxes are LNG newbuild prices, FLNG main contracts, SMR licensing, and X-energy main contracts. Those who buy time look at the next boxes. Time reveals the price.
"The two companies are two faces of the same cycle.
If one face wavers, the other wavers too,
And if one face stands again, the other rises together."
